Before becoming Italian prime minister, Giorgia Meloni was one of the most strident voices on migration in the European Union. As an opposition politician, she warned darkly of efforts to substitute native Italians with ethnic minorities and promised to put in place a naval blockade to stop migrants crossing the Mediterranean.
During her time in office, she has taken a markedly different tack — presiding over a sharp spike in irregular arrivals and introducing legislation that could see as many as 1.5 million new migrants arrive through legal channels.
Coming at a time when the right and far right are in ascendance ahead of the European Parliament election next spring, Meloni’s policies represent an important course correction for the Continent’s conservative bloc, as fiery rhetoric yields to the cold practicalities of governing.

They have a lot of chinese workers there making Italian products. One of the reasons covid also started there.

If we had the political will it would be easy but the left has imported so many people since they started this under JFK that there is no “we” anymore.
While you are correct at the one or two percent stage once you reach the ten to twenty percent stage there really is not.
When over ten percent of your population is foreign born it no longer matters if they come in legally or illegally. They are not going to assimilate to your culture, they will build enclaves of their culture and in the end there will be conflict.
So if you want to keep your culture keeping it at under two percent and spreading them out is what you want to do. Their children will assimilate to the dominate culture (yours) a few bits of theirs will find it's way smoothly into yours and things will be peaceful.
Otherwise you will have war.
Some ignorant people think some immigrants created the United States of America rather than British citizens creating it from a revolution against their nation’s rule and then put out a welcome sign to the world saying “all you immigrants of the world, come on in”.
For almost the first half century of America when our founding generations ruled this land, we averaged about 6,000 immigrants per year.
The same people who created the “nation of immigrants” concept are also the ones who created the “propositional nation” nonsense and then pretended it applied backwards in time to the founding of the Republic.
The other ridiculous part of this is the group who says a mass Third World demographic takeover is fine as long as it is LEGAL IMMIGRATION.
So then you get like Canada, with 1 million plus per year “legal” Third World immigrants for a population of 40 million.
To clarify, the Americans who created America did not put out a welcome mat to the world, if you look at those numbers of about 6,000 a year, it is obvious America was not founded as a dumping ground for the world’s populations.
I am against any and all for a minimum of 10 years!

That’s what Justin Trudeau is doing with a million immigrants a year imposed on a population of 40 million.
In 20 years they will have replaced half the country.
The illegals don’t have to be legislatively given amnesty, once they become such a large and routine portion of who your nation is then they are almost impossible to impose control over.
Many of us live in states where we have no idea who is legal or illegal, we just know that almost everyone around us and in our neighborhoods are foreigners and that we are becoming irrelevant to the government office seekers and lawmakers.
