Exploding house was a duplex. I believe insurance generally does not cover terrorism, crime, or police actions so the folks next door are really screwed.
I heard on the radio this morning that the owner of the house was a bit of a loon, filing all sorts of lawsuits, and believed his neighbors were spying on him.

Sounds like he filled the house with natural gas or propane and used a flare gun to detonate it.
He could have just said “I do not consent to a search.” π€‘

The guy probably turned on the gas before firing off the flare.

4:45 in the afternoon. Getting dark.
Why not wait till 9am or so, walk up to the door and knock?
Or call on the phone?
Or set up a camera and get him on a grocery run?
OH, I know, those are no fun.

846 N Burlington St. Nice location despite being in Arlington, a house on one side and a park and trail on the other. The next door neighbor appears to be a real whacko and probably needs to be investigated.

Exploding house was a duplex. I believe insurance generally does not cover terrorism, crime, or police actions so the folks next door are really screwed. Which is ridiculous as the people next door likely had no connection to what was going on in the other side.

Explosion is and since the explosion was (reportedly) done by the other owner, they’ll likely be covered.
