The Republican presidential primary calendar won’t officially kick off until the Jan. 15, 2024, Iowa caucuses, but former President Trump’s dominant position in the polls has already sparked chatter about who could join him on a general election ticket.

Trump is leading his primary rivals by an average of 60 percent at the national level and more than 20 percent in state surveys, creating a sense that the nomination is his to lose.

Some have started to look beyond the primary calendar and toward a rematch between Trump and President Biden, with former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and others weighing in on who should join Trump on the GOP ballot.

Agreed. The deep state would eat Ben Carson alive. He’s a good man, but you need to be able to think like the enemy if you’re going to defeat him.

We need somebody who the deep states fears as much as they do, Trump. That eliminates most, if not all of the names on that list.

Yeah, I noticed that. This list was not made by true MAGA voters, I can tell you that much. It was compiled by consultant-class, focus-group obsessed “journalists”. Triangulation, “We’ve got to appeal to this demographic, without alienating this one too much”, etc. Trump is where he is by ignoring that sort of thing and looking for the most qualified person. Obviously he wasn’t always successful, but at least that was his aim.
