Cal and Stanford are in the ACC. Oregon State and WSU is their own league and playing independently with the Mountain West.

The ACC teams need to find a way to break the ‘Grant of Rights’ terms in their contracts with the ACC & so far, it’s a no go.

From link at bottom:

“The other barrier to mega-expansion is the ACC’s Grant of Rights. For those unfamiliar with the issue, the current ACC media contract is beyond stifling. For a team to leave the conference, they would first have to pony up an exit fee that is north of $100 million. Then the Grant of Rights kicks in, where that school forfeits all of its future media money to the ACC – until 2036!

The Green Light (for you Gatsby fans) is that if the league loses eight members at once, then it folds and the Grant of Rights is not an issue. The problem is that eight schools need guaranteed landing spots that are better options than what they already have, and that is hardly a lock.

A recent tweet made an excellent point here – if a few teams decide to leave the conference right now, their exit fee plus their Grant of Right forfeitures would be a windfall for the remaining schools. The Wake Forests and Syracuses of the conference would be in a good place if that happened, far better than if they agreed to leave the conference without a better offer.”

True. Both GA and Ohio State did not win their conference championships. Texas did. Alabama must be in the Final Four representing the SEC, the strongest football conference in America. The SEC has dominated these national championships since they began.

Anyone watching CNN (barf)?:

Graham: Four More Years of Biden — the U.S. Will Be Unrecognizable, World Will Be on Fire

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that if President Joe Biden wins another term, “we won’t recognize America and the world will be truly on fire.”

Anchor Dana Bash said, “I want to ask you about your fellow Republican former Congress Liz Cheney. She has a new book out. We sat down for an interview this week, and she said she’s worried that the chance of a second Trump presidency means the U.S. is, quote, ‘sleepwalking into a dictatorship.’ You, of course, have endorsed Donald Trump. What’s your reaction?”

Graham said, “Yeah, yeah. I think a continuation of the Biden presidency would be a disaster for peace and prosperity at home and abroad. Our border is broken. The only person really going to fix a broken border is Donald Trump. When he was president, none of this stuff was going on in Ukraine. You know, Hamas and all of these other terrorist groups were afraid of Trump. I think Liz’s hatred of Trump is real. I understand why people don’t like what he does and says at times, but in terms of actions and results, he was far better president than Biden, and if we have four more years of this, Liz Cheney, then we won’t recognize America and the world will be truly on fire.”

Linda can be so wrong and then so right... He must be crazy.

Also on CNN State of the Union:

Jayapal: We Have Allowed Israel to Indiscriminately Bomb Hospitals Breaking International Law

Not gonna repeat Payapal's remarks, they're in the headline and stink.

My reply to her is: "Who's we? Israel would have long ceased to exist if they listened to you. Why have "we" allowed Hamas to arm up in hospitals and shoot rockets from them? You're a moron."

My granddaughter is turning 20 next week. Her father died two years ago, died in his bed from a drug overdose. But she has a boyfriend named Hunter, of all things. And yes they live together. They came down Thanksgiving weekend, worked for me a couple days, I paid them. We went to see a musical and had a real nice weekend.

Hunter is very conservative , hates his name and is a real nice guy. I think they’ll be together. Hunter, btw, does love to hunt...so does Kaitlyn. I could not shoot an animal and all that but hey...if that’s your thing.

Related:

The S&P 7, also known as the 7 largest tech stocks in the S&P 500, is up a massive 80% in 2023.

Meanwhile, the S&P 493, or the remaining 493 companies in the S&P 500, is up just 4%.

In other words, the S&P 7 is up 20 TIMES as much as the S&P 7.

A few key stocks have essentially become the entire market.

The fate of the stock market is in the hands of tech companies and AI-hype.

AB...was Jayapal challenged on the indiscrimate bombing lie ?

CNN’s MO would be to let it slide and move on to something else she blathered.

So of the Big 8 on your chart, only 2 (Tesla and Apple) are involved in what could be called manufacturing. And Apple manufacturing all happens in China(?) Tesla makes a niche product intended for people on the high end of the scale.

No GM, no US Steel, no IBM. American manufacturing has been replaced by entertainment (and count professional sports in that) and social services/government.

We are becoming Trantor. With more debt.

BREAKING REPORT: A United States warship and multiple commercial ships have COME UNDER ATTACK in the Red Sea..

“We’re aware of reports regarding attacks on the USS Carney and commercial vessels in the Red Sea and will provide information as it becomes available.”

While the Pentagon has not specified the source of the attack, the Houthi rebels in Yemen have been known to carry out attacks on ships in the Red Sea.

They have also been launching drones and missiles, with some of these attacks targeting Israel amidst its conflict with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
