Vladimir Putin on the brink as Russian support for Ukraine war collapses

Vladimir Putin is facing fresh revolt as multiple polls in Russia show a sharp decline in support for the autocrat's war in Ukraine.

The news comes as wives of deployed Russian soldiers protested to bring their husbands home, this could become a challenge to Vladimir Putin.

In October, for the first time since the war began, majority of Russians - 74 percent - would be happy if Putin signed a peace deal with Ukraine immediately, according to a Russian Field's poll cited by The Economist.

It also found that Russians were firmly against another mobilisation - despite this Putin has just called for another 170,000 troops to be added to the armed forces.

Another opinion poll by the independent pollster Chronicle showed that Russian support for Putin's war in Ukraine has halved since early 2023 - with elections coming up in 2024, this could spell trouble for the dictator.

Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine has not gone well. What was supposed to be a three-day operation to topple the government in Kyiv has become a nearly two-year-long bloody conflict that has seen tens, more likely hundreds, of thousands of casualties for Moscow's forces.

While elections in Russia are unsurprisingly not seen as free and fair, they serve an important role for Putin to shore up support within his country.

That support is waning as more and more Russian men are sent to die frontlines in Ukraine. Most recently, a series of protests by wives of enlisted soldiers have taken place in a rare public display of contempt for the war.

The UK MoD noted: "The Russian authorities are likely attempting to quash public dissent by wives of deployed Russian soldiers, including by attempting to pay them off and discrediting them online. This follows small-scale protests in Moscow in November 2023.

The Russian war against Ukraine is going so bad... That Vladimir Putin is thinking of pushing himself out a high Kremlin window.

If the Economist and MSN are claiming Russian popular support for the war has collapsed, you know with 100% certainty that Russian popular support for the war is stronger than ever.

It’s past time for the Muscovites to stop attacking Ukraine and bring their troops back to Russia.

Maybe next year's counteroffensive will advance more than 10 miles.

“The Russian war against Ukraine is going so bad... That Vladimir Putin is thinking of pushing himself out a high Kremlin window.”

Hold on there. How can a dictatorship like Russia have honest polls?

I’ve noticed that the “Russia is on the verge of collapse” articles have ramped up recently. I think it has to do with urging Congress to vote Ukraine more money that we don’t have and will have to borrow.

Just like in the Soviet Union, the Russian Federation, and Putin in particular, has little admiration for “public opinion”. Clearly, they all recognize that this is a “push poll”, a series of questions designed to indicate a certain outcome of the poll results.

A technique widely used in the territory once known as “the United States of America”.

Correct.

The timing of this report in the western controlled media suggests a major psyop ( prob via means of astroturfed NGOs seeded by the usual US alphabet agencies) is launched to make the Russian population ( and ROW) think there is a real significant antiwar movement. Just as things on the ground in Ukraine are grinding to a bloody frozen ground end to the formerly-vaunted Ukrainian counteroffensive and Uke presidential politics starts to roil over Uke civilian recognition of the losses they are suffering on the battlefield

The war is changing domains….losing on the battlefield, pivot to information control and psyops. If it doesn’t work on the Russians, the managers hope it will influence our not-so-bright Congress to keep shoveling aid and weapons to Keev.

Ukraine is finished

LOL really? So then why can't Russia win this war?

The FACT that Russia still can't move more than 100 miles from their border says you're lying

Pick a side and post the propaganda that fits your perspective.... That’s how this war is playing out on FR.
