TEL AVIV, Israel — Israeli officials obtained Hamas’ battle plan for the Oct. 7 terrorist attack more than a year before it happened, documents, emails and interviews show. But Israeli military and intelligence officials dismissed the plan as aspirational, considering it too difficult for Hamas to carry out.
The approximately 40-page document, which Israeli authorities code-named “Jericho Wall,” outlined, point by point, exactly the kind of devastating invasion that led to the deaths of about 1,200 people.
The translated document, which was reviewed by The New York Times, did not set a date for the attack, but described a methodical assault designed to overwhelm the fortifications around the Gaza Strip, take over Israeli cities and storm key military bases, including a division headquarters.
Hamas followed the blueprint with shocking precision. The document called for a barrage of rockets at the outset of the attack, drones to knock out the security cameras and automated machine guns along the border, and gunmen to pour into Israel en masse in paragliders, on motorcycles and on foot — all of which happened Oct. 7.
The plan also included details about the location and size of Israeli military forces, communication hubs and other sensitive information, raising questions about how Hamas gathered its intelligence and whether there were leaks inside the Israeli security establishment.
The document circulated widely among Israeli military and intelligence leaders, but experts determined that an attack of that scale and ambition was beyond Hamas’ capabilities, according to documents and officials. It is unclear whether Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu or other top political leaders saw the document, as well.

Israel had the entire picture from multiple sources.
We had Arab simulator pilots who didn’t care about landing and overstayed their visas and bought one way tickets. We had an actor James Woods report suspicious passengers. We had a security agent who got the chills and didn’t act and a rental agent who didn’t report a threat on her life, both because of political correctness. We had a prior attempt on the WTC. We had fragments we should have put together.
Israel had obtained the Hamas plan. An intelligence sergeant wrote up a full report confirming the plan being discussed and practiced in real present time, moving it out of the theoretical. She reported the attack capacity of Hamas greater than previously thought.
There was a quasi-retired intelligence guy still in the loop who independently made a full report delivered to the top, after which he was removed from the loop.
There were thousands of Hamas men being trained.
Egypt sent warning.
The US had fragments. Israel had the full picture, emailed, followed up, typed, signed, sealed and delivered by two separate experts, and corroborated by many military observers.
I would like to believe their spy chiefs were merely stupid or over-confident. But I can’t.

If you know the plan and you are even watching them training for the attack, they can still take you by surprise if you let your guard down even once.
You simply can't stay ready 24/7 year in and year out.
Hamas did a great job on the operational security, they timed the attack perfectly and they had the music concert and the movement of 20,000 guest workers going to work to help disguise their attack.
Israel was VERY on this one. They only faced an attack by Gaza and even the limited missile barrages overwhelmed the Iron Dome interceptors and depleted Israel's stockpiles of the interceptor missiles.
If this had been a more serious attack Israel could have been seriously damaged or even wiped out.
A combined missile attack from Hamas and Hezbollah would have completely saturated Israels missile defense systems and the use of Iran's more capable short range ballistic missiles could have done serious damage to the air force, the nuclear weapons facility, and the IDF weapons stockpiled.
Serious damage would also be done to Israel's population centers causing much death and destruction
Worst of all, with the confusion and the all the missiles flying through the air combined with the radar and counter measures saturating the ISR systems, Iran could easily use the clutter to sneak in some of their pretty darn capable stealth cruise missiles loaded with conventional, chem/bio and nuclear (either bomb or dirty bomb) and do serious precision damage.

The NYT wants to put a smile on their hamas buddies faces by watching Israel consumed with navel gazing instead of destroying the savages. The stench of Obamatollah in this devious planted story. 40 pages. Ha ha. Why not 43 or 26 or 100.

The NYT writers viewed the translated Hamas Plan. They saw Israel Army emails. They saw some past Israel Defence Ministry Document...
Some of that could be a US leak, and Adam Goldman is a Swamp stenographer, especially for the FBI.

You must be 5 years old or you are really naive. Gaza is only 25 miles across surrounded by walls and only a few ways in and out. It is one of the most surveilled areas in the world. A plan of that magnitude would have taken months if not years to plan.
Israel has developed a number of technologies to detect tunnels, including1234:
A geophone sensor that can detect underground movement based on the sound generated by the movement.
A series of underground sensors along the northern border to detect any new subterranean tunnels entering Israeli territory from Lebanon.
A tunnel detection system which aims to prevent cross-border attacks by Palestinian militants.
Ground-penetrating radar (GPR), which can “see” into the ground and has been used from the surface to search for smuggling tunnels under the US-Mexico border.
Their plan involved smuggling in thousands of rockets and positioning them. The Israeli military didn’t respond until many hours late.
Thousands if not tens of thousands of people knew about this attack including the embedded media.
Again, they just need to watch 25 miles. Last year Israel knew of their plans, and a few days before attack Egypt warned them.

There's something that's not adding up. It's an open air prison. The inmates got out and killed all their guards.
