“There are 1,000 Russian soldiers in Moldova right now among other things supervising old munitions from the Cold War stored there.”
Given the way the Russians are known to “store” old weapons I don’t blame Moldavia for wanting them out last week. What’s shocking is that there are any Russian weapons that haven’t already been stolen by the people who were supposed to be guarding them.

These Russian soldiers are in the Transnistria Region which has an ethnic Russian population in the hundreds of thousands.
They have been in conflict with the rest of Moldova in the post-Cold War era.
Translation: They are supervising the cannibalization of equipment, the draining-out of oil from motor vehicles for sale on the Black Market, the extraction of radiator anti-freeze for "enhancing" moonshine; the sale of ammunition...
Those "munitions" have been rotting away for the past three decades. I wonder in what condition they are.
