Yale School of Public Health dean Dr. Megan Ranney (pictured) gave congressional testimony Tuesday in which she responded to questions about Chicago gun violence by pointing to studies suggesting that repairing urban buildings could reduce shootings.
Ranney made the remark during an exchange with Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA), who had asked her about the raging gun violence in Chicago.
Kennedy said, “Why do you think Chicago has become America’s largest outdoor shooting range?”
Ranney responded by saying, “Mississippi, Louisiana, and Missouri actually have higher firearm death rates.”

Chance the Gardener: Yes. In the garden, growth has it seasons. First comes spring and summer, but then we have fall and winter. And then we get spring and summer again.

Yeah? Well he’s an idiot-
Greening………… Put the little “Green” dot on the thug’s center of mass, squeeze 2 times.
Sorry I meant she- I’m no biologist, so I can tell
Well, Henry Cisneros tried doing more basketball hoops. I wonder if that worked. Better to SHOOT hoops than shoot people was the idea.
Nothing, I repeat NOTHING, makes people want to shoot each other more than a lack of green space! Duh!
Stupid got paid a lot for her latest batch of stupid right there.
Her theory that greenery reduces crime is not supported by the evidence in Chicago.
One of the neighborhoods in Chicago with the highest rates of murder is Englewood. A typical residential street in Englewood has single family houses surrounded by grass lawns with trees lining the sidewalks.

The scene of a shooting in October where 4 people died. Seems like plenty of grass, trees, and greenery.
Megan Raney seems like an uninformed, elitist liberal who can't imagine that black people live in single family homes in a neighborhood with grass yards and trees and the young people still go out and shoot each other. And she thinks people should listen to her.

In Joizy dat’s where ya dump da bodies...
And just for accuracy, only one person died in the shooting in October in the 6100-block of South Justine Street. The other’s were wounded.
Nope she does not.
I had diarrhea last week and there was a 4.2 drop in Chicago gun violence. SO, everyone MUST enjoy Taco Tuesday next week, you know for the good of all Chicago.
Unfortunately I suspect the lots would be overtaken by bums and vermin
Start arresting shoplifters, those who jump subway turnstyles, those who play music too loud, those caught with small amounts of grass, those who run stop signs, etc. Enforce the "little" laws. Doing that eventually turned NYC from a murderer's haven to the safest big city in the country.
Of course Mayor Wilhelm (DiBlasio)...and his lesbian wife...changed all that and now we see NYC as a cesspool again.
LOL
