A Putin army general has been 'killed by an exploding Russian mine', according to reports.
Major-General Vladimir Zavadsky, 45, was deputy commander of Russia's 14th Army Corps.
He perished 'as a result of a mine explosion in the rear area, and not a military clash with the enemy' on the frontline, reported Telegram channel VChK-OGPU.
The report states that the incident occurred during a 'senseless' redeployment of his group away from the frontline,
The channel alleged the Russian armed forces were making an attempt to cover-up the circumstances of his death and blame it on a Ukrainian artillery strike.
An investigation into the general's death is examining if the mine was laid by another Russian unit to guard against enemy raiding groups.
Zavadsky, a father of two, is believed to be the 12th Russian general killed in the 22-month war, although Ukraine says 16 Putin generals have perished, while Russia only admits to six.
Some reports are claiming the millitary leader died in the occupied Kherson region of Ukraine.

Fragged?
Fragged?
Oops
Exploding in the rear or the front, dead either way.
A Russian major general is a one-star, equivalent to our brigadier general. It’s the first rank above colonel.
The Russians aren't retreating in Kherson, they're just senselessly redeploying their army away from what had been the front line... LOL
A one star maybe, but this one is in two or more pieces.
“He perished ‘as a result of a mine explosion in the rear area...”
Was he hanging around that Dylan Mulvaney dude?
There are Chechen blocking troops in that area, too.
Yup.
Well, that’s one way to keep them from retreating. Mine the backdoor!...............
Chechen blocking troops?
We have several generals that I think we can give the Russians to replace the ones they lost.
Kadyrov is sending another 3,000 Chechen blocking troops to that area.
A Putin army general
Really?
Are USA generals referred to as “Biden army generals”?
Idiots everywhere looking for idiots to emulate.
During WWII, the USSR Red Army had roving groups of officers who were assigned to the task of shooting deserters and malingerers.
The “Putin General” is a new description in the press. I like it.
“Chechen blocking troops?”
I thought all the Chechens had been withdrawn. But, it would not surprise me if Chechens were somewhere nearby.
