US Senate announces vote on Ukraine aid request

The U.S. Senate will hold a vote on President Joe Biden's billion-dollar aid request for Ukraine and Israel as early as Dec. 4, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said in a letter to senators Nov. 26.

"I intend to bring the President’s national security supplemental package to the floor as soon as the week of December 4th," Schumer said.

He also said the "biggest holdup" in passing the security assistance package was the Republican's party's demand that Ukraine funding be tied to U.S. border policy.

"This has injected a decades old, hyper-partisan issue into overwhelmingly bipartisan priorities," Schumer said in the letter.

Mike Turner, chairman of the U.S. House Intelligence Committee, said on Nov. 26 that conflict over border policy would likely prevent the aid bill from passing before the end of 2023.

KEYWORDS:
The good news is that there's NO WAY Schumer gets 60 votes for cloture.

The Senate will not be able to pass ANY bill for Ukraine aid.

The House doesn't have a Ukraine bill under discussion.

Ukraine gets nothing more this year from the US, and their chances in 2024 are even less. They better try to cut a deal.

I thought spending bills had to originate in the House?

I thought spending bills had to originate in the House?

That's based on the mistaken idea that The Constitution hasn't been flushed down the toilet.

There was a time when all spending bills had to originate in the House. Oh, for those good old days when the constitution meant something.

I thought the Repubs were insisting upon money for border control in exchange for money for Ukraine and the Dems declined that deal?

so did I. I guess they don’t obey laws if they disagree with them......maybe we should do the same.

RATs do whatever they want and RINOs back them up.

I guess Schumer has decided he doesn’t have to follow the law like most RATs believe.

Good gosh, we all are these days!

It is impossible now to keep up with it. Today, all spending bills originate and are are approved by the Executive Branch via Executive Order! Tomorrow...it will be the office of the ex-President Obama to set the course.

Oh, wait. That’s what it is today. It is so confusing...

Doesn't mean the Senate cannot submit "proposed" lgislation to the house to consider. It comes with no number...so it's not a bill per se.

The Senate and House talk to each until there is a bill...with a number and supporters....originating in the house.

Lets hope this gets shelved. That war is done and this would be a tremendous waste that will end up in the wrong pockets.

The “spending” originates in the House.....but the Senate can bat $numbers around if it wants.

Zelensky better not get his hopes up and his wife’s shopping
trip to Paris is off. She can hit Walmart’s dollar sale racks.

the Repubs were insisting upon money for border control “

Well that’s a farce too. Any money for “border control” will be used to process the illegals and send them throughout the country especially the red states. It will not be used to prevent a single invader from getting in.

RATs do whatever they want and RINOs back them up.

You mean the Democrats do whatever they want and the Republicans back them up.

Every time things go south, the Republican party blames itself. It happens so often, the party came up with a cute name to call a percentage of their own party...rinos..

It's all rigged.
