I heard him this a.m. on Fox. This guy is a smooth, sly son of a gun. He could talk his way out of a Hamas prisoner camp.
In the case of Medicare, 40% of all costs come from the General Fund, by law. Medicare premiums, which are now means tested thru a tiered system, cover only 25% of the costs of Part B. By law, the other 75% comes from the General Fund.
I would like to see all government pensions described in terms of how many times the pension payout is larger than the maximum SS benefit. Example; Joe Biden's pension payout is $X, which is equal to 5.5 (or whatever the number is) Social Security max payouts.
Federal employees used to pay 7% of their salary to the pension system. Since they are required to join SS, they also pay into SS.
I have been a federal retiree for 23 years. Using back of the envelope calculations, I have received more than 20 times what I contributed to the system. Thanks to COLA increases, my current pension is $24,000 more than my annual wages when I retired. My total federal contributions to my pension divided over a 30 year period can be deducted from my annual taxable income.
Government employees enjoy a far better pension system than the private sector. It is really unsustainable. We need to cut the federal workforce significantly. It is a bloated bureaucracy that we can't afford.

But my writing is....well it is what it is.
I told my granddaughter this Thanksgiving weekend that since she’s looking for a job, do what you love to do. Start out small if you must, but as Rush Limbaugh would say, do what you love at work and you will never have to work.
I didn’t do the writing I was born to do because a)Erma Bombeck was not born yet and b)While I loved to read, I considered that only the likes of Pearl Buck and Ernest Hemingway deserved to have what they wrote read by the public.
Anyway, I can’t stop writing. And, I add sheepishly, I was born to Blog. But now at age 73, when I was much younger, such as Blogging was unknown.
But I shall not stop.

Well I got to say this. And I say it all the time.
The IRA and other similar savings plans are the best legislature ever passed by our congress.
The little guy can do well with an IRA. My husband and I did well although not rich. But comfortable.
Two workers in the mainstream, bought their health insurance from work, paid required taxes, and deposited the most into an IRA as allowed by govt. or matched by employer.

dont worry that will end. Both Warroom Steve and I have a plan for fewer govt. union employees at least I’m guessing he has one. I know I have one. It’s called “that job does not exist anymore” when the current occupant quits. Slow, effective and no one gets hurt.
