The part about being a supplement works for people in the middle or the higher end of the scale, but somewhere along the way SS became a mainstay for many people, especially the people at the lower end of the scale who spent a lifetime living from check to check, having some disaster or illness wipe out savings, etc.

If it was really a supplement to provide some extra spending money, tax every dollar of it.

My part-time job is with a local NFP go-between from food banks to food pantries. Maybe I just see too many people who were at the low end of the scale, and those are the people who are being shorted with this increase while the government(s) spend so much on illegals, high salaries and pensions to government employees, and all of the waste and corruption.

I'm tired of seeing this happen.

Chief Creative Officer of Guide Beauty, Selma Blair.

Is she going to give beauty tips? If not, why is an actress doing on it?

No matter how many times it fails the same power mad people push the same formulas to convince the people they can solve their imaginary problems while failing miserably with the real problems. They do not allow any discussion of their disastrous financial and economic programs since they are extremely tolerant of everyone they agree with although not so much of the ones they do not. Communist Parties are famous for trying and jailing their opponents with false and made-up charges in front of packed courtrooms which give you zero chance of a fair trial.

Brilliant as usual.

The cabal wants a world they can control the only govt. they want is loyal to them only because they have been bought and paid for. If they do it right we will fund our own demise. Some of that happens now with funding for Ukraine, global warming scam and non profits that are really dnc funding devices, just to name a few. When Trump returns we need to gitmo everyone in this administration and make sure they never come back in office. They all need to be jailed for their illegal actions they have taken against us and our President.

I did a calculation and decided to start at 67 instead of waiting. Long story short, I decided that if I collect the smaller amount for about 7-10 years, I come out ahead of collecting the larger amount but waiting until 70. After that, I regret starting sooner.

And as you alluded to, who knows if SS will survive the Great Reset.

Yeah, I already had a couple of good pensions; military retirement, and 20 years working at Auburn University, with my veteran’s points, allowed me full retirement under the Retirement Systems of Alabama (RSA), which has a great chief investor making lots of money via investments... Very solvent for a state pension fund...

I used the early SS to pay off a lot of debt.

Good blog! Are most of your readers in Delaware?

What do they think of Creepy Joe the Pedo? Do they ignore the obvious because he’s from there or actually think it is shameful?

About 80% of American wage earners pay more in payroll taxes than income taxes. The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center estimates that 57% of U.S. households paid no federal income taxes for 2021, up substantially from the 44% before the pandemic.

Seven Hard Truths Americans Should Know About Social Security in 2021—and Five Ways to Strengthen Social Security

3. Social Security Has Now Been in the Red for More Than a Decade. Last year marked the 11th straight year that Social Security has been in the red, with the program paying out $96 billion more in benefits than it collected in payroll taxes. The only reason why the program is still considered solvent is that it is cashing in on IOUs that were previously issued to the program in exchange for using some of the payroll taxes that most people think are being set aside to fund their future benefits to finance other government spending. Cashing in those IOUs requires the Treasury to issue more publicly held debt.

5. The Costs of Congressional Inaction Are Exponential. Each year that policymakers ignore Social Security’s shortfalls results in ever-higher costs and consequences for workers and retirees. Between just 2010 and 2020, Social Security’s combined retirement and disability programs’ unfunded obligations tripled, from $6.5 trillion to $19.8 trillion, and the size of immediate tax increases needed to maintain the programs’ solvency jumped from a 2.15 percentage-point increase to a 3.36 percentage-point increase. A 15.76 percent payroll tax, compared to the current 12.4 percent, would mean a $7,880 social security tax bill for someone making $50,000 per year. Not only would those taxes mean lower incomes during workers’ careers, but also lower incomes in retirement. A Heritage Foundation analysis found that even if politicians coupled tax increases with higher benefits, workers across all income levels would be worse off.

Great stuff Bernard!

Many of us know exactly what you are talking about. I cut back and only work 40-50 hours a week instead of more.

But the thought of quitting is not in my vocabulary for many reasons. We are close to a war time situation. Different from other wars but still good guys fighting communists. We will win it may not always be pretty.

We know we have 10 million illegals from only the past few years and a total of 52 million in the country. This alone keeps us on edge wondering when the next episode will happen. We thought there was one last week but got a surprise.

first time i heard about the incident I thought terrorism immediatley. But it all changed.I did the post below a few days ago about the Kurt and Monica Villani crash.

It first appeared like terrorism. But later we learned it was anything but. The Villanis were headed to a Kiss concert in Canada which was canceled. On the way home they drove a Bentley and were at the Rainbow Bridge customs crossing waiting in line to have their passports checked.

After being checked they proceeded to the check out and it appears the gas pedal stuck. They wound up crashing at the entrance as their 5,000 lb. 600 hp Bentey got up to an est. 100 mph. The crash was epic. The car hit a concrete abutment went flying into the air and exploded into tiny pieces. Both were killed and the first thing that crossed everyone's mind, including mine, was terrorism.

We all thought is was a terrorist act. There was a passport lying in the road and even a piece from the accident that appeared to be part of an explosive device. It was later identified as a part of the car.

Officials announced it was not terrorism but no one believed them!! This went on for a day or so until more reports on the web confirmed the gas pedal had been sticking and then it all made sense.

Turns out the Villanis were hard working patriots who had just donated 250 turkeys to the local area. It's possible Kurt had not had time to get the sticky pedal fixed and that's what caused the wreck.

But, it shows just how on edge we all are trying to anticipate the next terror act which we all suspect is coming. Better to stay well informed.

There is more below.

To: Lakeside Granny

This couple Kurt and Monica Vilani of NY and several other locations possibly Summerland Key Fla. 8 miles north of where I am now do not fit the profile of terrorists or anything like that.

https://www.the-sun.com/news/9706335/kurt-monica-villani-rainbow-bridge-explosion-niagara-falls/

....And then about an hour later, heard the news and I'm like, oh my God." Their other neighbor Mary Meyer commented: "They were so loved. "It's really shock and devastation and it's just gut-wrenching really, really. "They were so generous and kind and always willing to help. "Just always willing to help and lend a hand. Always, always, always. They were just so very, kind wonderful people."

More of Kurt and Monica's neighbors noted the amount of help they offered to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Niagara Falls and the Niagara Sailing Clubhouse. Both Kurt and Monica Villani were 53-year-old residents of Grand Island, New York. They owned and operated Gui's Lumber, a tool and hardware chain native to the above mentioned area.

Their family business was founded by Kurt's father in 1986. Kurt and Monica married in May 1995 and are survived by their two children; son Kurt Jr. and daughter Mia.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12787659/Couple-killed-Rainbow-Bridge-car-explosion-named-Kurt-Monica-Villani.html

Friends say they'd been having problems with the gas pedal in prior weeks The family operated Gui's Lumber which has seven locations, including one in Niagara Falls, where Wednesday's fatal crash took place. The chain began with Villani's father, Kurt M. Villani, in 1986.

Wednesday's incident is not the first time a horrific crash has claimed the life of a member of the Villani family. In July 1978, Villani's grandmother, Lorraine, was killed when she was flung from a boat that was traveling along the Niagara River at 3am. Kurt M. and his wife, Gail Villani, were also on board at the time but were unharmed. The boat struck a bridge while Lorraine Villani was at the helm.

The family later successfully sued the company that built the bridge, after it was found to not have been properly illuminated, for $120,000 in 1984.

Online records show that the Villani family owns a range of properties in the Grand Island-area.
