Nikki Haley Wants Social Media Users to Verify Identity with Government
Arm strong Economics ^ | Nov 16, 2023 | Martin Armstrong

Nikki Haley would like to place harsh restrictions on Americans, including our freedom of speech. Her most recent idea states that all social media users should verify their identification.

“When I get into office, the first thing we have to do, social media accounts, social media companies, they have to show America their algorithms. Let us see why they’re pushing what they’re pushing. The second thing is every person on social media should be verified by their name,” Haley demanded. As with all laws shrouded in removing liberties, Haley claims this is a matter of national security.

We do not need to show identification to vote, but we need one to sign onto X? She believes that the online wars between Israel and Palestine supporters is reason enough to remove our ability to share ideas on the internet without checking in with Big Brother first. This would permit the government to track our personal social media accounts with more ease. Social platforms would be required to submit user data to the US government, but she does not say what the government will do with this data. The government has long wanted a backdoor into social media platforms to track all our correspondences.

Her GOP rivals like DeSantis and Ramaswamy have attacked her plans. “You know who were anonymous writers back in the day? Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison when they wrote the Federalist Papers. They were not ‘national security threats,’ nor are the many conservative Americans across the country who exercise their Constitutional right to voice their opinions without fear of being harassed or canceled by the school they go to or the company they work for,” DeSantis wrote.

Seems like you could only accomplish this if you had a national ID card. But if such existed...wouldn’t the first priority be mandated voter-ID with that card, and take out banking fraud ‘players’?

(I don’t see this ever getting passed in House/Senate)

In a way, she is right, if people's names were on their words and actions many would behave differently.

But can and should identification be required?

Maybe Section 230 addresses this? If a website doesn't know or ask identity, then they are responsible for content. If they know, even if privately, identity, then they are not responsible for content. At the end of the day, someone whould be accountable for what is published.

Fortunately, we are now allowed to self-identify any way we wish in the United States. For example, men are now allowed to self-identify as women. They can even use female names. No one is allowed to question that.

So I believe I’ll self-identify as a stupid former female governor. Maybe I’ll pick from South Carolina. Yes, that will do just fine.

If people names were on every post it would bejob/social/real life-endangering to post criticism of the powers.

Nikki Haley, as most women, does not understand the limits of federal government rights and power based on the Constitution (& the Declaration of Independence) which created the feds and delegated certain, limited powers to the feds mostly enumerated in Art. I, Sec. 8. If it is not a delegated enumerated power in the Constitution , it is not a valid feral power. Period.

The Constitution delegates NO enumerated power to the feds to meddle in individual lives or private enterprise. Therefore, the feds have NO constitutional authority to meddle in social media. Please don’t respond about how the feds partly run the social media. That is simply more unconstitutional acts by the feds that should be shut down, and certainly doesn’t justify increased illegal federal activity.

Nikki Haley is part of the problem.
