Iowa has gone more blue? I don’t think so…

Small states first gave lesser known candidates a chance to gradually build attention and support, but are likely irrelevant in the Social Media Age.

Since 1990, Iowa has gone:
Pres: DDDRDDRR
Gov: RRDDDRRRR
Senate: DR DR DR DR RR RR
House: 90-04: 33R/8D | 06-18: 16D/15R | 20-22: 7R/1D
2000-2012, Iowa was leaning red, then evened out some, but since 2020, out of the 12 contests, only one Dem has been elected (House seat in 2020, and flipped Repub in 2022). Iowa is now 100% blue in these top spots.

Somewhat, there's a lot fewer people to convince to get an electoral vote or two in a small State, but that's really irrelevant. As a party, why do I really care about small independents / minor party members? I would want the candidates that best represent my party, and it makes sense for the States that are most heavily associated with my party to be the ones that can best make that decision.

And out of curiosity, looked it up: of the first five States I mentioned, WY and ND are #1 and #4 for least population. The biggest on my list, OK, is the 23rd smallest.
