Trump ripped ‘so-called Christian’ evangelicals as ‘pieces of s–t’: book
The New York Post ^ | 11/24/2023 | Josh Christenson

Posted on 11/24/2023 11:53:37 AM PST by thegagline

Then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump railed against “so-called Christians” and “pieces of s—” evangelicals who supported Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in the 2016 Iowa caucuses, according to a forthcoming book.

At the time, allies of Cruz had been making hay of Trump’s flub before an audience at Virginia’s Liberty University, a conservative evangelical college, in which he botched a question about his favorite Bible verse and replied that it came from the book of “Two Corinthians,” rather than “Second Corinthians.”

“The laughter and ridicule were embarrassing enough for Trump,” Tim Alberta writes in his new book, “The Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory: American Evangelicals in an Age of Extremism,” an excerpt of which was reported by the Guardian.

“But the news of [Family Research Council President Tony] Perkins endorsing Ted Cruz, just a few days later, sent him into a spiral. He began to speculate that there was a conspiracy among powerful evangelicals to deny him the GOP nomination,” Alberta adds. “When Cruz’s allies began using the ‘Two Corinthians’ line to attack him in the final days before the Iowa caucuses, Trump told one Iowa Republican official, ‘You know, these so-called Christians hanging around with Ted are some real pieces of s—.'” ***

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, 45, who polls show is in a distant second place to the thrice-married real estate billionaire and former reality TV star, on Tuesday won the endorsement of “Iowa Caucus kingmaker” Bob Vander Plaats, a prominent Christian evangelical leader in the Hawkeye State.

“What we saw in 2022, the supposedly ‘red wave’ really only happened in Florida and in Iowa,” Vander Plaats told Fox News “Special Report” host Bret Baier.

Trump was either too weak to stop the steal or was defeated by Brandon. No practical difference there. Sorry.

Bingo. My opinion is that DeSantis is the better option for President, but I am sick and tired of the hatred being hurled at DJT, and most of it is bullcrap.

You and your ilk are the very reason why some “conservatives” turn completely away from the polls and your line of reasoning is EXACTLY from the leftie playbook.

Two Corinthians?

I will say ‘Two Corinthinas’ from time to time (and not referring to some gathering of two fellows).

I Corinthians
II Corinthians.

II is Roman Numeral for Two, not Second.

No way Trump said that! That is so totally unlike him. Trump is well known for his decorum and statesmanship.

PDJT has a YUGE advantage over other candidates in that when the obligatory smear jobs start pouring in, voters with an IQ above room temperature will likely think “yup, here we go again”, whereas scurrilous allegations leveled against his opponents might have some credibility.

You're dribbling your flopsweat all over FR. Maybe you should take a break and calm down, otherwise you're head's going to explode again when Trump wins the election next year.

I became pro Trump in late 2015 when I heard him talking about the border - I just loved the way he would take no shit from anyone.

Prior to that I thought of him as a rich celebrity with weird hair - but then I dig up some old videos from the 1980s of young Trump - he was so full of common sense… I just knew he was the real deal.

I still went through brief periods of wanting Rand Paul or Ben Carson to win, but Trump was like a juggernaut.. I knew we had a winner, a truth teller and someone pragmatic enough to know that liberty works and tyranny fails.

But I don’t mind these people being slow on the uptake. As long as they have his back now I don’t care what nasty things they said in 2016. Some of the people on your list became solid Trump supporters.

Good for them.

Rush was anti Trump. Referred to Trump supporters as ‘Trumpists” is was a nasty slam
Levin was anti Trump
Shapiro
Most of Fox - Perino huge anti Trump got into a verbal brawl with Bolling
Baier was as nasty as Kelly and Wallace he called Arizona
McCallum. Ugh

None became solid Trump supporters.

Furthermore I find that anyone who hated Trump the way any of these did, hated him due to a prejudice they won’t overcome. Many friends have it.

It comes from different places from childhood mostly but it is a closed mindedness. They love to spread the hatred and they love to revel in it they want to hear me say I hate him

The conversation always stops when the nudge me. Tge other day I had a woman say to me I’ve coffee and pumpkin pie, “that Trump. Did you know he said John McCain was bad he never served he got shot down, he wasn’t a war hero”

That’s eight years. The current president is a total disaster. That’s no matter for the hatred.

That’s what I find in these people. I could never see a rational dislike for Trump so I trust none of them. They go along to get along. Rush had to jump
On board. He saw the numbers I remember his frantic horror when his staff corrected him on the numbers when Cruz was the one who lost a state in the primary and it was actually Trump who won by big numbers. His Trump harmed was deflated

That’s something they loathe.

The McCain lady above, wrong subject. I told her, “Ya. Trump said that. You know, at that point Trump was read in on top top top secret info as presidential candidate. What did he know? McCain campaigned on that war hero stuff a way more than any of his fellow captives. It was weird. He also was always supporting democrats and not republicans like Graham. A lot of footage of him schmoozing foreign questionable. I don’t have love lost for McCain. Sorry”.

Deflated hatred. She’ll have to go back to her corner and listen to CNN another few weeks to hear some other nasty little eight year old snip to growl about while ignoring the facts

Trump loves this country. How die these people miss that. How did Rush miss that? Says more about him

I’ll bet they all voted for Trump

Rush was very pro Trump at the end.
Levin was a nasty Trump hater, but has become reasonably solid, with occasional backslides.
Tucker Carlson, who you did not mention, expressed dislike throughout the first tern m, but has changed his mind.

I agree that the rest are hopeless. Those of us who climbed aboard the Trump train very early deserve a lot of credit and have reason to be very proud of ourselves - we are the true patriots.

However, there are not enough of us - we have to embrace converts, no matter how recently, reluctantly or tenuously they saw the light. We need their votes.

Pre-orders are both ubiquitous in the the book industry and count as sales.
