The thing that always gets me. You have THE CRIME OF THE CENTURY. You have the most powerful man in the world murdered and you have the prime suspect in your custody. And you let a two-bit strip club owner waltz up to the suspect, while being escorted by law enforcement officers, and gun him down -
on national TV. I just can't understand how that happens legitimately.

Ruby had become a fixture at the police department by hanging out and ingratiating himself with officers. They all knew him (strip club may have had something to do with it) so his presence didn’t arouse their suspicions.
