Bob Vander Plaats, an influential evangelical leader in Iowa, endorsed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday, giving his campaign a boost as he goes all in to try to win the first state in the presidential primary cycle.

"You need a president who's gonna surround themselves with the best and brightest people versus having a hard time attracting them again. And someone who's actually going to do what they say they're going to do. And I just think he's got the spine to do it. And I think he's got the experience to win for us," Vander Plaats said on Fox.

Another thing desantis and his campaign lied about, which they knew was coming...

On a Monday call with fundraisers, DeSantis told donors he is expecting an endorsement from Vander Plaats' within a week of the roundtable, according to multiple attendees who were on the call. The DeSantis campaign denies the governor said this.

The desantis campaign would have been on the donor call, and known the endorsement was coming, since they had been trying to buy the support...

And they still lied back to cbsnews

From other threads where people from Iowa commented on vander plaats and his organization,

vander plaats is said to be a bit of a grifter and he and his organization the family leader doesn’t have the influence the media is trying to make it appear he has.

No one here in Iowa cares who Bob endorses .
He does stand up for good values and ideas, but no one cares about his national political choices.
Only the out of state media cares

From what others have said, I guess he's a charlatin, who thinks he can be a king maker, using the votes of his followers

And he got paid $95k from the desantis campaign to get his support...

The DeSantis campaign, a super PAC linked to him and a nonprofit group supporting him together paid $95,000 in recent months to the Family Leader Foundation, an Iowa-based nonprofit led by evangelical leader Bob Vander Plaats, according to campaign finance reports and a document prepared by an Iowa state lawmaker who was helping the Vander Plaats organization raise money for a July 14 presidential candidate forum.

The term "influential evangelical leader" means he probably runs
a megachurch and sells ketchup sized packets of "holy water".

Let’s see just how influential he really is. I’m expecting a good laugh when the net Iowa poll comes out.

“someone who’s actually going to do what they say they’re going to do”

Where and the hell was this guy during Trumps Presidency? He must of had his head up, well you know where. Trump delivered on everything and had to fight ever inch of the way.
It is Trump or we are finished. A vote for DeSantis and all his Bushie money is a vote for them. and we can see where they have taken us.

Hugh Hewitt told Brett Baer(iirc) “Vanderplaats makes the rain in Iowa”

? We’ll see won’t we.

Trump support is a mile wide but 2 miles deep....and not budging.

Even Floridians who supported Gov. DeSantis aren’t moving away from Trump.
Desantis and his PACs are feuding.

He shoulda’ waited for ‘28,
joining team Trump in ‘26,
or ‘24 as VP.

I don’t see that Ron has the organization, support, or resolve to dissemble DC as it needs to be dissembled.

Looks like Ronnie’s $100k bought him an endorsement - funny how he has to go out of state to find folks to pay off to say nice things about him....
