What Russia objected to was NATO installing a DEFENSIVE missile system in Poland that would have been capable of intercepting Russian OFFENSIVE missiles aimed at the West.

What Russia did in Cuba is no different than what the US did in the Baltic states. If the US can place weapons at Russia’s doorstep, than Russia can do the same to the US.
Military hardware is military hardware. Just as there is no such thing as a good liberal or a bad liberal, there is no such thing good military hardware and bad military hardware. Liberalism is liberalism and military hardware is military hardware.
