IDF lookouts who had warned their commanders that they were concerned about the situation along the Gaza border in the months before the October 7 attack were told to stop bothering them and even threatened with a court-martial, N12 reported on Saturday.
According to the report, the lookouts warned that they had seen unusual training and other actions taking place next to the border, with more and more people suddenly getting near the fence in the months leading up to the attack.
The lookouts felt that they weren't being heard; one of them decided to go directly to a senior commander in the area and was told "I don't want to hear again about this nonsense. If you all bother us again with these things, you'll be court-martialed."
N12 additionally reported on Saturday that lookouts who served along the Gaza border are not receiving psychological help from the army and were recently told that they would need to return to service within two weeks or be transferred elsewhere.
"The IDF and its commanders accompany all the soldiers who were present at the events of October 7 closely and sensitively," the military told N12 in response to the report.

The war in Israel was necessary to get continued aid to Ukraine. The plan was to combine both aid packages to ensure passage. This wasn’t an accident. It was planned.
The elephant in the room
COMMNDERS SHOULD BE SHOT AT DAWN !
Israel defense and intelligence were too busy trying to overthrow the Netanyahu government.
… “The Military Intelligence Directorate, under my command, failed to warn of the terror attack carried out by Hamas,” Haliva said. “We failed in our most important mission, and as the head of the Military Intelligence Directorate, I bear full responsibility for the failure.”…
… Haliva was the latest in a string of defense officials to say they bear responsibility for the deadly invasion carried out by Hamas, after the head of the Shin Bet security agency and IDF chief of staff, who made similar remarks in recent days...
Vegas odds Mossad/IDF were fed intel that Oct 7 would have been a small hostage crisis, but Hamas’ true intent was the massacre.
Hanlon’s Razor or something else?
I’ll say Hanlon’s Razor, to the 1,000 power, barring other info.
Netanyahu was prime minister for 9 months before this attack. There were two other PM’s for 1 1/2 years before that. I think we need to look into the appointment of IDF officers over the last 2 years. In the US we have officers who are being appointed for their wokeness by the Biden admin. Was a similar thing going on in Israel?
OMG...you could be right!
It’s a historic norm. Watchers in outposts are low in rank, so when they call in a warning their superiors disregard them. See D Day and Pearl Harbor.
You’re quite insane.
A similar situation happened in the run up to the Battle of the Bulge in December of 1944. The observations of the soldiers in the field did not fit with the mindset of the intelligence officers, so the brass dismissed it. Even an organization as good as the IDF falls into bureaucratic thinking.
Planned? Other than by HAMAS, by whom? Do you mean to imply that some person or persons on "our side" were in league with HAMAS and had advance knowledge of the planned rapes, murders and kidnappings? Names, please?
Really? Zelensky did it, or Biden?
It might have been planned, but it had nothing to do with Ukraine. The thought that Israel allowed it to happen for Ukraine's benefit is insane.
If Israel allowed Hamas to attack, it was solely Israel's decision, and solely for Israel's benefit.
Shortly after the attack I heard someone say that it was planned (or permitted) in order to permit Israel to seize the Gazan territory in order to facilitate some sort of project that required the land.
I discounted that because I firmly believe that Israel would not put its people in jeopardy in order to achieve a political gain. Also it seems unlikely because if that ever came out it would be the end of the current Israeli government.
That said, I do think that the Israeli military and intelligence were negligent. Very negligent. However, given the way that our military and intelligence operate, I could believe that they might have done something contra the government.
History records pretty much this same thing happened before the attack is Pearl Harbor and with the Germans before the D-day landing.

Excellent comment, and probably the correct analysis.
I went to the exchange on the nearby Naval Base this afternoon. The car in front of me had tags that expired over two years ago. When I showed my ID, I told the guard, but he didn't seem interested in investigating.
So I followed the vehicle to the exchange where it parked in an adjacent lot from normal traffic.
I went back to the front gate (exit side), got out of my car and approached the guard shack. I purposely stayed about 20 feet away from the guard (different one) (Police not Service member) and called out to him from a distance.
I retold the story and he told me I should not be getting out of my vehicle - so I left, he didn't seem to care either.
The IDF didn't take Hamas seriously. They were probably more focused on Hezbollah and Iran.
