Not unexpected but sad nonetheless. Rest in Peace.

They were the best married couple in the White House in all of the 20th century (the Trumans came close). If they can be remembered for that, all the other failures will dim with time. See you in paradise, madame First Lady.

1976 is 47 years ago.
She’s like forever ago yet also seems like yesterday.

So did all editors.....
Definitely didn’t agree with their politics
But as I recall she was reasonably well-behaved in public AFAIK

Rosalyn Carter was a model First Lady. Unlike someone who followed her, she was proud to be a wife and mother who stayed home and baked cookies for her kids. That didn’t diminish her accomplishments as a political spouse, and she never exploited her husbands office to personally profit under the pretext of “having a career”. Also, no one questions the paternity of any of her children because she was a chaste wife. She will be missed.

Rest in peace, Mrs. Carter and my condolences to Mr. Carter and all of the family.
Mr. Carter will go quickly without her.
I may not have liked his politics but I admire the relationship-he had with his wife-good people,
Mr. Carter is a very intelligent man and I wonder why he misses the mark with politics.
Anyhow, job well done, Mrs. Carter.

A few hours ago I saw some flags flying at half-staff and wondered if Jimmy Carter had died. Would flags be lowered in honor of a former First Lady? I don’t know if her death had been announced at that time.

Aww. A long and a good marriage. Jimmy won’t be far behind without her I think.
RIP Mrs. Rosalynn Carter.
