They have seized swampland along a river delta. They can’t bring across armor or any heavy weapons. They aren’t going anywhere. When enough of them collect in that place, Russia will blanket the area with artillery.
But Kiev and DC get their headlines. THAT’S what this war is about.

The position on the face of it seems stupid. Retreat would be almost impossible with a river along their back against a sustained counteroffensive.
Without the American Victory at Saratoga (The real hero was Benedict Arnold by the way—but another pompous General took all the credit and started the downward spiral that ended with Arnold’s betrayal to the English) France would never have given the aid America needed to win the war. Ukraine has no such victory under her belt. Lots of showy hollow victories but Nothing big. In time, Russia will grind them into the dirt. The River crossings look good on paper, but what happens when they can’t be reinforced in the winter? ONLY Hope for Ukraine is direct US forces and WW III. Mr. Zelenskyy is doomed without all of NATO coming in to secure victory for his cause. More and more his actions seem unworthy of support—he’s looking more like a dictator himself. Sad really—he spent all of his moral high ground by jailing his oposition and closing churches.

Is their a military strategist here that can explain why Ukraine doesn’t do a major invasion on the peninsula on the west end. It seems not to be well defended. Drop 1,000 men there and move east.
I don’t want to hear from the “the war is lost folks” I want to have a discussion of military tactics.
