Palestinians in Gaza, West Bank strongly support Hamas, October 7 attack
Jerusalem Post ^ | NOVEMBER 17, 2023 | DANIELLE GREYMAN-KENNARD

A total of 75% of respondents agreed with the October 7 attack and 74.7% agreed that they support a single Palestinian state “from the river to the sea.”

After Hamas’ devastating October 7 massacre in which some 1,200 Israelis and foreign nationals were murdered, the globe was divided into people able to condemn the attack and people perceiving the terrorists as "freedom fighters."

Palestinian society seems much less divided on the issue compared to the rest of the world, according to a November 14 poll by the Arab World for Research and Development. When asked the leading question “How much do you support the military operation carried out by the Palestinian resistance led by Hamas on October 7?” Palestinian responses showed support for the attack.

Palestinians living in the West Bank overwhelmingly answered that they supported the attack to either an extreme or “somewhat” extent (83.1%.) Only 6.9% answered that they were “extremely” or “somewhat” against the attack, and 8.4% expressed that they had no opinion either way.

Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip show a little less consensus but the overall majority supported the attack. A mass of 63.6% said that they supported the attack “extremely” or to a “somewhat” extent. A further 14.4% answered that they did not oppose or support the attack. Showing a greater rift than that of the West Bank, 20.9% of Palestinians living in Gaza opposed the attack to some degree.

A total of 75% of respondents agreed with the October 7 attack to any extent.

75% of respondents agreed with the October 7 attack and 74.7% agreed

The other 25% would also agree, but they were buried in rubble. Much more work to be done!

People automatically support their governments in war. We have dissent ‘forums’ if that’s what you want to call them.
What it means is that civilian collateral damage has to be accepted, maybe even encouraged.

YEP....Most Palestinians gave support and assisted Hamas. When you let your kids cradle or bed be used to store weapons and various other armament that speaks volumes that you don't give a crap about your own kids and you are assisting Hamas.

Palestinians us their kids consistently as means of gaining sympathy - they parade them constantly on videos fake and otherwise so they'll be seen as perpetual victims.

Just for clarification - Israel has taken out over 400 Hamas in the West Bank - the West Bank Palestinian Authority Government is and has been assisting Hamas. They do very little other than play the role of Diplomacy.

The Israelites had to battle against ‘child sacrificers’ since the beginning. Molech and Allah are the same entity

I have no sympathy for anyone in Gaza. The whole place needs to be leveled.

I think I can say with confidence that if our troops went into a country and started raping women and putting babies in ovens alive, there might be a little blowback.

“How much do you support the military operation carried out by the Palestinian resistance led by Hamas on October 7?”

...is not an honest question to begin with.

That said, the slightly lower favorability in Gaza may reflect:

Realization by some of the true nature of the attack. (One terrorist being interrogated by the Israelis commented that his father would likely shoot him if his father knew what he (the terrorist) had done.)

General discontent in Gaza with Hamas, living conditions pre-war, etc.

A "1 + 1 = 2" mental deduction that the Hamas attack is leading only to wide scale destruction and hardship in Gaza. "Am I better off than I was on 10/6/2023?"

Gazans lost everything on 10/7/23 and they're realizing that maybe they shouldn't have supported the attacks.

The Muslims in the West Bank haven't suffered so they still believe in the cause.

The key point is that Israel’s enemies in the 75-year long war are not defeated and have not surrendered, and as long as this situation applies, the war will continue until one or another side achieves victory and imposes terms on the defeated side, terms adequate to end the fighting.

The US has been repeatedly defeated since 1945 but has been able to declare victory and go home. Israel has been trying to declare victory, but they ARE home and beset by enemies who still want to fight.
