Heat pumps work good until the temps get into the teens then you better have a backup.
My house was built in the late sixties and has radiant heat built into the ceiling.
You bet I turn up this when the heat pump goes wonky.

I use a heat pump for my gunnite pool. The heat pump heats very efficiently for that application.
Bottom line...they've been around for a long time...since when do they need subsidies?

Got up over 32 during day, but COLD at night.
Flower garden looks like it was nuked.
Got propane today-—80 gallons @ $2.50 a gallon===$200.
Power bills would be triple that -—or more
