Former first lady Rosalynn Carter has entered hospice care at home, nine months after her husband, former President Jimmy Carter, started hospice care.

Rosalynn Carter, 96, and "President Carter are spending time with each other and their family," their grandson said in a statement Friday.

In May, the Carter Center said the former first lady had been diagnosed with dementia.

"She continues to live happily at home with her husband, enjoying spring in Plains, [Georgia], and visits with loved ones," the Carter Center said in a statement at the time.

This means she has six years to live, judging by past experience of the couple.

I saw Willie Nelson at the old Omni in Atlanta back about 1981. Jimmy and Rosalynn were sitting at the back of the stage in folding chairs. For the encore they came up and sang ‘Will The Circle Be Unbroken’ with Willie. A good moment, and a great concert BTW.

Jimmy may have made parts of the Middle East problem worse (Iran) but it had been a mess for a long time already. There had already been three major wars between Israel and the Arab states before he became President (1948-49, 1967, 1973), and by getting Sadat to make a separate peace he may have reduced the danger to Israel somewhat.
