At a glittering fundraiser in downtown San Francisco Tuesday night, Biden began his speech by thanking Mayor Breed for “welcoming us to your city. It kind of sparkles right now.”
A mixture of resentment that everyone underestimates him and cockiness about his prospects, Biden’s remarks foreshadowed his campaign pitch for 2024.
He began by boasting about the “incredible night” Democrats had at the polls last week, “despite all the predictions, except ours.”
“The American people voted to protect our fundamental freedoms like the right to choose, they voted to protect our democracy, they voted against extremism of our opponents, and they voted for the progress we’ve been making. They voted again and again.”
He then boasted about Bidenomics, falsely claiming that CPI stats out that day showed “inflation continues to go down in the country.”
But most of Biden’s speech was devoted to demonizing Donald Trump, something he attacks with relish: “Our very democracy is at stake because the same man who proclaimed himself to be a ‘proud election denier,’ the same man promising to pardon those who were insurrectionists who were convicted on Jan. 6; the same man who said it was time, and I quote, for ‘termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution’ . . . The same man is running on a platform to end democracy as we know it, and he’s not even hiding the ball.”
Republicans need to be realistic about what Democrats are doing, and how it is succeeding.
Their formula is simple: scare voters on abortion, Trump and “MAGA extremists,” then reassure them with fairy tales about Joe’s great stewardship of the economy, and his sure-footed foreign policy achievements.
That Biden even has a ghost of a chance is a reflection on the incompetence of his opponents.

The numbers in the swing states next year will end up remarkably similar to 2020, with Biden having just enough to get over the hump in those states. I don't believe the Democrats have the ability to put in unlimited fake ballots (unlike many here). The race still has to be fairly close and then fake votes can put Biden over the top. The reason it will be close enough is because of what Devine points out: They will have a bunch of low IQ voters thinking the economy is doing well, plus abortion and saying "MAGA" constantly.
I'm already looking ahead to 2028. I predict the Republican Pres. nominee will be another McCain/Romney type. Sigh.
That Biden even has a ghost of a chance is a reflection on the incompetence of his opponents.
And its been like that since 2006. The GOPe are spineless, feckless, ignorant and they don’t care about us
I know people here don’t want to hear this but I’ve seen it the past 2 election cycles.
As soon as we get close to election day, abortion talk starts up and instantly energizes the pro death democratic left. Its damn near the only thing that energizes them to vote. So they vote in droves, and we lose. Then we are shocked the next day. SHOCKED that a sure thing election FAILED.
I think its gonna happen again next year and we are going to be inaugurating
President Gavin Newsom.
And all the usual suspects will be here saying......WHA HAPPENED?????
The National Divorce looks better and better.
The GOP is so far behind in technology, connecting with voters, etc. Issues aside- they are constantly getting schooled by the left in GOTV
It’s clear Trump will try to neutralize the abortion issue. It will take a lot of skill because the media and Biden (or whoever the Dem candidate is) will keep emphasizing that his Supreme Court nominees reversed Roe vs Wade.
The only approach on the abortion issue that stands a good chance of working will be to keep pointing out that all that happened was that the abortion issue was returned to the states and that voters are now deciding the issue in their states.
IOW, don’t run away from the Dobbs decision. Get the idea into people’s minds that the repeal of Roe vs Wade didn’t outlaw abortion and just lets each state decide, which is as it should be. Also point out that the issue is not at the federal level now. Trump would have to be very skillful to pull it off. IMO he’ll need some help from people who are skilled at messaging. Unfortunately he generally doesn’t use such people from what I can tell.
.
That the abortion issue would be so crucial to tipping the election is a damning statement about the collapse of morality in this country. People want no-consequences outcomes for their actions now. They don’t want to have to make moral decisions—they just want to feel good. Take this pill—you’ll feel good. Smoke this stuff—you’ll feel great and forget about all your problems. Jump into bed with this stranger you met at a bar—you’ll feel good and if you create a baby, that can be taken care of. I cannot believe that G-d is pleased by this latter day Sodom and Gomorrah attitude by most Americans.
So Biden reveals how they won: they voted again and again.
I think Trump could win with the abortion issue working against him, except that the media and Biden will successfully gaslight people on the economy. That’s the other part of the formula.
Because another American soldier is holding an American flag, and China and the USA were the two countries involved in this meeting.
I think if we ask people if things have been better under Trump or Biden, along with countering their lies, like putting out how much the cost of basic food has risen, etc., we could counter that.
But will we? Probably not.
Just before this election I saw this one ad over and over, how Trump was not in the ballot but his policies were and how XX (who was not actually on my ballot!) was going to get rid of abortion altogether, and, oh, yeah, keep guns legal and another thing, book banning?
Anyway, I saw this ad over and over, and Not One Single Republican Ad!!!!!!
And certainly not one countering the Dem ad.
What is WRONG with these people?
I should stop now.
In order to counter Democrat ads you need money. Democrats have a lot more money. It’s not just from the rich either. I’ve read that they raise more in small contributions as well.
What state are you in?
