45th President of the United States Donald J. Trump to Deliver Remarks at Team Trump Iowa Commit to Caucus Event in Fort Dodge, Iowa @ Fort Dodge High School. 4 pm.
A LOT of Iolanthe was patterned on Wagner...but it was parody, so it wasn’t really stealing.
Also, the Mikado has hints of “Madame Butterfly”, and “I am a Courtier Grave and Serious” from the Gondoliers lifts verbatum a finger exercise from the Hanon Piano book.
I love doing parodies.
Edward Lear’s poetry is REALLY good for little kids; THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT for example.
And then, there’s Edgar Guest! And Ogden Nash. Lots of Fun.
Thanks to You Both for All Your pings!
Just now got onboard to watch the replay in my private car!
ha!
Thanks again to ALL also for the live thread!
Watching Our Wonderful President Trump!

These Trump Train Threads are great, especially the partying afterwards. LOL.
The city was divided into NE, SE, NW, and SW.
IIRC UNM was in the SE area.

LIVE Thread: PRESIDENT TRUMP VISITS THE BORDER AND OPERATION LONE STAR SERVICE MEMBERS β 11/19/23

I paid 11,000 for mine 30 years ago, so 4000 seems reasonable for it in good condition.
But I don’t have that kind of money just lying around either.
Must be a left coast thing.
My cousins did the same thing in Idaho and Utah.
I’m gigging all afternoon and evening tomorrow so I will be missing all the fun. Grrrr.
I get that all the time from you.π
The MIKADO has less than NOTHING at all to do with Madam Butterfly!
Sullivan, being his petulant, nasty, self absorbed, pompous self, turned down Gilbert's latest, as being "too Topsy Turvy"/MAGIC LOZENGE. He had been on holiday in Europe, never wrote back to Gilbert, and when he got back, threw a hissy fit.
They had a contract, Carted demanded an operetta.
Gilbert balked and they all went home in a huff!
At that time, there was a Japanese exhibit going on in London. EVERYONE WAS GOING TO IT! Gilbert went with his wife. And all of a sudden ( the "story goes that he bought a Japanese sword, had it hung, and then the sword fell of the wall and hit him....true or not, it's the "STORY" ) and the light bulb went off and dear Schwenck sat down and began to write THE MIKADO! :-)
That's the operetta that my parents' troupe did on T. V.! I watched my parents rehearse at home, and I can do every single gesture/fan move/etc. from that operetta. :-)
I have a particular animus re GONDOLIERS, so not all that cognizant about it all.
I too love parodies!
Hitting the sack now. Good Night!
(((HUGS)))
You really are good, Jane.
I could never do a cartwheel.
