I suspect Mayor Eric Adams is freezing the hiring of new recruits not because of the costs created by the horde of illegal alien invaders, but because the NYPD couldn't get the recruits anyway.

One of the dirty secrets of the "Defund The Police" movement was that these cities couldn't attract enough cops to begin with.
