The new age limit is the latest in a series of changes made by the Air Force over the last few years to usher in new members. Giving qualified applicants an option to retest if they test positive for marijuana use allowed about 165 Airmen to join in fiscal year 2023, while allowing small hand and neck tattoos brought in another 150. Updating the service’s body fat composition rules brought in another 700 recruits, and streamlining the process for trainees to become citizens upon graduating Basic Military Training brought in 200 new Airmen.
Financial incentives have also played a role: reinstating the enlisted college loan repayment convinced more than 200 Airmen to join since March, while $32 million of enlistment bonuses brought in more than 3,800 Airmen in fiscal 2023…

The people they are hiring, from females to the old of both sexes, and of course the sex oddballs, all of these are people who need and want, medical care, and they will drain the pension system with their injuries and problems.
Women injure easily doing military jobs and in training, and hiring people to start their 20 year career at age 42 for the military life is to be hiring people just entering the time when their bodies are already starting to break down.
The modern military personnel are going to drain the military budgets with nonfighting costs.

I’m reminded of the scene in “Yankee Doodle Dandy” where Cohan tries to join the army to fight in WW1, is told he’s too old, and then gives a dance set to prove he’s in better shape than the younger recruits.
Keep electing Democrats that want all straight white men out of the military and you may as well raise the age to 100.

42 years? When I enlisted in 1981 I was 28, which was the oldest allowable at that time. Best decision I ever made. I had a job for 6 years USAF, and parlayed that into 24 more years in a related career with a military contractor.
In 30 years I got to see a lot of USA and parts of Asia and Europe, all on Uncle Sam’s tab........and I got to retire at 60.
