There should be NO option for more money for *migrants*.
Let NYC deal with it themselves. They decided to become a *sanctuary city*. Now they can deal with the consequences.
The only problem with this is that native New Yorkers—some of whose families have been here since the end of the Civil War—are not being protected, which was the original purpose of the law.
People get thrown out of apartments for various reasons that are not their fault. Even if you have proof that you have been living there for 30 days or more and are therefore a legal resident of that apartment, you can be locked out until it goes through the court.
So there should be something built into the change of law to protect these people from having to live on the street overnight. Just build in proof of NYC residency.
If these longtime Americans are protected, it’s a good idea to end the “sanctuary” nonsense.

There is no such thing as “migrant money” period. Any monies used are simply a redistribution of wealth taken from taxpayers or tacked on the debt. This how you lose the house, AGAIN.
I saw a photo on the net not long ago that showed a bunch of smiling idiots shaking hands with another bunch of smiling idiots. It’ was captioned as showing a bunch of the “welcome wagon” village idiots welcoming “migrants” to their town. Just saying that you are no longer a “sanctuary city” doesn’t make it so.
That was my first thought also. Any Federal taxpayer money can only be spent on deportation systems. And while the deportation process is being implementation on an individual, consider tagging each deportee. If they are caught back in the USA after being deported, it’s off to a penal colony.
Johnson and Congress in general, you still don't get it!!! What part of "illegal aliens have entered our country illegally. They and the government officials/politicians who allowed them to enter are criminals." How about using the $1.4 billion to locate and remove (bus caravans to Mexico) every illegal and at the same time prosecute and jail government officials/politicians who broke the law in allowing these illegals to enter. At the same time, set up a DMZ along the southern border similar to the 38th parallel in Korea. Anything less will not protect our republic.
We are being governed by feckless men and women who fail to represent the American people. God help us!

Actually it is the right answer. We have to start somewhere. We must pull on that first thread that starts to unravel that utopian cesspool known as NYC.
Removal of the sanctuary status forces NYC to cooperate with deportation notices. If the DA doesn’t help, bye bye big bucks. Maybe even bye bye DA.
I have no doubt that the NYC leadership will renege on the deal somehow, then bye bye big bucks. Maybe bye bye leadership.
The thing I like about Speaker Johnson is he is a true man of God. He only has to please one master. It makes his path forward very clear and easy to follow. That is a breath of fresh air coming from the fetid swill pit that is DC.

OK. I agree for sure with your opinion of Mike Johnson.
I have otherwise had no issues with he position on things, but I am not politically inclined and do not know how to play the game, as it were.
I should trust that he knows what he’s doing and give it time to work out.
