Trump doubles down on death penalty for drug dealers

Former President Trump doubled down on calling for the death penalty for drug dealers Saturday.

“President Xi in China controls 1.4 billion people, with an iron hand, no drug problems, you know why they have no drug problems?” Trump said at a campaign event in New Hampshire Saturday. “Death penalty for the drug dealers.”

“You want to solve your drug problem, you have to institute a meaningful death penalty for… a drug dealer,” the former president continued.

This isn’t the first time the former president has called for the death penalty for drug dealers. Back in June, Trump notably advocated for drug dealers getting the death penalty in a Fox News interview, despite the fact it would have applied to Alice Johnson, a woman whose sentence Trump commuted in 2018.

If we’d started this 40 years ago, the war on drugs could be shelved by now.

Six people from my old neighborhood have died from drugs in a little more than 5 years. Those are only the ones I’m aware of. There could be more. It’s getting bad. None have died from car accidents, guns or AIDS. Executing drug dealers is a good start for a drug policy.

Isn’t low-level drug dealer something of a natural progression for an addict?

The war on drugs is a joke. In a war, people DIE. If we had a true “war on drugs,” bad people would DIE.

Then we’d have the FBI planting drugs on common citizens, arresting, and executing them as dealers.

Absolutely! Get caught with more than a certain amount of certain drugs and you hang. First offense,no plea bargains,no wiggle room for the jury or the judge.

That's the way they do it in Singapore...and elsewhere. In Singapore it's often Aussies...and when that happens the Australian government protests, and weeps, loudly. And Singapore's response? "Oh,so sad!"

FEDSTAPO or the local police can do that now anytime they want too. Just shoot and put knife in their dead hand.

“If we’d started this 40 years ago, the war on drugs could be shelved by now.”

Actually, no. The drug problem is an economic problem. In economics there is demand and supply. As long as there is a demand for something there will be a supply. You can’t affect the supply side for the same reason lottery tickets get sold. Even though people buying lottery tickets intellectually know they won’t win, they buy them anyway because they think that THEY are special and therefore they’ll win. Even though they’ve spent half their income and never won. Remember, half of all people have lower than average intelligence and it’s mostly those people who deal drugs and buy lottery tickets.

The solution is on the demand side. But if you’ve dealt with an addicted person, you know that person unless he wants to stop, won’t stop using. The ultimate solution is to start training children at the youngest age to not try drugs in the first place. We’d need to rely on the school system which is currently telling children they can choose their “gender” to inform children of the dangers of drugs. All of this while state after state legalizes marihuana. I conclude there is no political will to even address the drug issue. Thus, the simple and satisfying thing to say is, we’ll execute the dealers. There is a near infinite supply of dealers for the same reason no lottery organization has ever gone bankrupt.

About the same as it has solved the murder problem. I have no problem with the penalty, but I don’t believe it’s much of a deterrent.

They report this like it’s a bad thing.

Out of his whole rally, this is what they focus on to try to make him look bad.

IMO, anyone caught smuggling in drugs should get the same treatment.

He needs to add CEOs who push dangerous, untested vaccines. Add the death penalty for CEOs who wildly overcharge for lifesaving drugs. Then finally make a host of non-lethal recreational drugs legal while making the death penalty valid for highly lethal drug pushing.
