“”About $200 billion of that cost will come from payment reduction for the $1.64 trillion in loans already outstanding in 2023,”

“$275 billion, comes from reduced payments for about $1.03 trillion in new loans that we estimate will be extended over the next 10 years”

Does anyone here buy this “creative” explanation? How does reducing payments on existing loans, suddenly turn into free money? Only Marxists could come up with a plan like this.

So the federal government is taking more of my money and giving it to other people?

If the loans are so unfair, why aren't the lenders being penalized with only partial payback -- they made the profits, why is the taxpayer being hit?

More votes make election fraud easier and more believable.

Don’t hire anyone who has their student loans forgiven.

I always had to pay loans back personally;none of it was paid back through a government grant. Now I didn’t make any money while working, didn’t go to college so there was no student loan to pay back. Now I am retired & drawing S.S. It is just now starting to balance out....a little.

“The GOP has to get out in front of this.”

They’re not capable of that. If they were ... it would not have got THIS far.

I am sure the GOP is a dead letter. They represent absolutely no one. They only get into ‘politics’ to ride the gravy train and it doesn’t matter to them WHICH party they avow. Issue resolution is completely incidental to them because they get ‘paid’ no matter how things turn out!!

Watching Pauly Shore’s “Jury Duty” right now and his character perfectly captures the mindset of too many career-minded political types: covered expenses, staff paid for by government, picking and choosing assignments with behavioral reactions to questions.

My stupidly honest way of going through life trying to not lie has set me free...a few times getting me fired and accused of things I didn’t do that were done by...dishonest liars. Now that God has allowed me a pause to respond (larynx gone to cancer so must write), the scales are slightly more balanced. But still peoples’ capacity for deviousness continues to beat my intellect too often.

Silly me, growing up with Christian moral values and expecting others to be civil and upstanding.

Not to detract from subject too much but must add that I've found many people respond very badly when stood up to with no fear on your part. It seems that so few people actually do stand up to bullying when it's done that the bullies get upset and cry about others "not knowing their place" and being ingrates.

I sleep well on bedding that could use upgrading while others sleep poorly on the best.

I never took out a student loan, but I have had other loans. Loans are legal agreements for the lender to lend money in exchange for a re payment over time. There is a lot of legalese in these loans. Ignorant question, but do student loans have a requirement to be paid back? If Biden or whoever is running the govt is changing the terms of the deal, then what is the point in paying back any loan?

Something tells me I already know the answer...

“Don’t hire anyone who has their student loans forgiven.”

Why? The forgiveness was automatic, no choice in the matter. There was no applying for the forgiveness.

I can’t see how anyone in government, resident usurper included, can forgive loans of any kind outside of federal types. One more reason to see him stumble up stairs one last time before the long-deserved short drop.
