Vatican Says Transgender People May Be Baptized
WSJ ^ | 11/09/2023

The Vatican also said that the children of gay couples, including ones who are adopted or born to surrogate mothers, may be baptized, and that such couples may serve as godparents.

The statement, released on Wednesday, helps to clarify Catholic teaching with regard to transgender people, a topic the Vatican has said little about until now.

“A transsexual—even one who has undergone hormonal treatment and sex reassignment surgery—can receive baptism, under the same conditions as other believers, if there are no situations in which there is a risk of generating public scandal or disorientation in the faithful,” said a statement from the Vatican’s doctrinal office that was dated Oct. 31 and bore Francis’ signature of approval. The statement didn’t specify when such a risk would arise.

The doctrinal office said it was responding to questions sent to it in July by a bishop in Brazil.

The new document represents a marked shift in the Vatican’s public stance on transgender people. In 2015, the doctrinal office instructed a bishop in Spain that a transgender man couldn’t serve as a child’s godfather on the grounds that he wasn’t living according to the tenets of the Catholic faith.

Papa Frank: people who promote hedonism can be baptized. But Protestant Christians who promote believing in Jesus and holy living can't receive Communion.

At least he's got his priorities.

Progressives will always go where the money is. Every charitable organization that starts out conservative will eventually become liberal because the people who support the organization financially are too busy working making money to spend the time running a charity. This leaves opportunities for less diligent people to worm their way in and take control. Why not? They don’t have anything else to do.

Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

Does he mean they can be “re-baptized” under their new identities, or that unbaptized persons who validly desire baptism but who suffer from this delusion may be baptized?

It’s actually quite an important distinction.

You sad people are easily duped. Look at the source, do some research.
The basis of adults who get baptized are the same, Queers, sinners alike, they are given the ultimate chance of Christ, starting with Baptism.
BUT a big principle and pledge of that is that you reject
the devil and sin! If they or anyone goes into it with a predisposed plan to sin, it’s not up to the Priest to reject the person but Christ. Thank God for forgivness and grace.
Man you fools are always waiting to join in with the retarded choir to condemn... I’ll keep praying for you idiots.

The pope- flinging the doors wide open for the demons of life to walked right through. The beginnings of a one world religion where anything goes, nothing is condemned, and the word is rewritten to tickle the ears and placate the consciences of the ungodly and unrepentant

Hey pope, God hasn’t changed! Abominations are still abominations actions and condemned by him irregardless of how you wish to preach otherwise

Yeah, and the head of a very influential, very powerful and, clearly, demonic false religion.

By definition, the trans people aren't rejecting sin, they are demanding sin be recognized as their norm. That IMHO is what makes it different from other sins (we're all sinners, but Christians have repentant hearts and strive to be less sinful).

Most people would have agreed with you all the way up to this part: “If they or anyone goes into it with a predisposed plan to sin, it’s not up to the Priest to reject the person but Christ.” From here, you become an enabler of public (and unrepentant) sin.

You can find scriptural support for the chastisement of those who “wear their sin on their sleeve” many place, but here is one example from the Apostle Paul (1 Cor. 5:11) “But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who calls himself a Christian who is sexually immoral, or greedy, or an idolater, or verbally abusive, or a drunkard, or a swindler. Do not even eat with such a person.”

someone who had the surgery and later, now sincerely regrets that past decision....is repentent...and is now leading a moral life....would seem OKAY inho.
people can see the error of their ways and repent, indeed this is the whole idea imho.
thanks

Mainstreaming mental illness and sexual deviancy will not bring lapsed Catholics back into the fold.
It will only validate their decision to avoid the Church.
The Catholic Church will lose what’s left of its moral authority over this.
Shame on this Pope.

And here’s the kicker….Roman Catholicism has to accept this. They have no choice in the matter.
