Major project in China's largest ultra-deep oilfield kicks off operation

A major gas and oil processing station in the Fuman oilfield, located in the Tarim Basin, was put into operation on Sunday evening, according to the Tarim oilfield branch of PetroChina, China's leading oil and gas producer.

The Fuman oilfield, China's largest ultra-deep oilfield, boasts more than 1 billion tons of oil and gas resources, which are mainly detected underground at 7,500 meters to 10,000 meters deep, the company said.

According to the company, the Fuman oilfield is expected to produce 5 million tons of oil and gas equivalent annually by 2025.

Construction of the station in the Fuman oilfield started in February this year. A new oil and gas treatment device with an annual output of 2 million tons of crude oil and 2 million cubic meters of natural gas has been built, and more than 220 km of oil and gas pipelines and related auxiliary production devices have been installed to provide strong support for improving the efficiency of exploring the Fuman oilfield.

At present, the oil and gas production of the Fuman oilfield has been rising rapidly with an average annual growth rate of more than 700,000 tons for three consecutive years, and the oil and gas production exceeded 3.3 million tons in 2022.

"At present, the daily oil production of the Fuman oilfield has exceeded 9,600 tons, accounting for nearly 50 percent of the daily crude oil production of the Tarim Oilfield. This year, the annual oil and gas output of the oilfield has continued to maintain a high growth trend and it is expected to exceed 4 million tons, hitting a record high. This will further enhance the crude oil supply and winter natural gas support capacity," said Wang Xiaopeng, a person in charge of the exploitation of the Fuman oilfield.

Located in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Tarim Basin is a significant petroliferous basin in China. The ultra-deep oil and gas resources in the basin account for more than 60 percent of the total onshore ultra-deep oil and gas resources in China, and 19 percent of the global total.

Even though this is cribbed from Xinhua, the Chinese state PR dept, it is still interesting.

While the EPA is trying to shut down West Texas oil with bogus claims, China is drilling down past 25,000' to extract oil and gas.

We can mock Chinese theft of intellectual property, but the effort and know-how to drill - and strike - minerals 5 to 6 miles down in the earth is not trivial.

An old map but this shows the basic location of the Tarim Oilfield area in western China. Also home to the Uighur.

This oil has a slight rice smell.

The Communist Chinese have taken the admonition of “Drill, baby, drill!” very much to heart, and this may be their salvation even if a complete embargo to oil and gas imports is put into place and enforced.

Together with the most rapacious coal mining enterprise on earth, the energy needs of the People’s Liberation Army will be fully met. Most of the rest of the population of 1.4 billion, not so much, but what the hell, a goodly portion of those could die back, and still not negatively affect the CCP in the least.

Interestingly enough, apparently China can not afford to lose that many people unless they are old(bit those at the ones that probably still have a work ethic), demographic time bomb is hitting China sounds like pretty hard too

The story here is the scam of ‘peak oil’ and claims that petroleum is ‘fossil’ derived rather than an earth core element. When peak oil fell on its face, the environmentalists deflected to global warming and extreme weather events. Petroleum translates into power and prosperity for the people of the world, which Globalists must prevent to maintain their control.

Not related to topic, but brings up a point I have been wondering since childhood(I know weird kid)

How is there oil at 10000 feet if it is “fossil” fuel

Seemed to me that oil and gas require pretty specific set of circumstances to exist if the organic matter model is correct.

Getting something from the surface to 10000 feet might be able to be explained with plate tectonics, but getting that matter down there in the right conditions over that period of time seems highly unlikely to me.

Coal is a different story, but then haven’t seen coal mines that deep lol

If you could take all the organic material from every living thing: from dinosour down to tiny plankton and rendered it into a useful fluid ( crude oil or gas ) it cannot possibly explain the amount of oil/gas present, let alone the issue you raise (depth).

China’s current rate of import is about 600,000 tons of oil per day. Production from this field of 5 million tons per year is interesting, but not a game changer.

The Religion of Climate change is offended.

Surely they will sacrifice Greta Thunberg to a Chinese volcano to stop them?

I am convinced that the earth continually produces oil and gas. Much the way that people produce methane\ but on a farlarger scale.

I am very surprised. How was China able to get permission from Al and Greta to do this drilling?

Remember when even mentioning abiotic oil was enough to get you drummed out of the Academy of Science?

Yeah, that whole drama has died a quiet death.

Not that the news pushers can’t start every EV story about “fossil fuels”, but hey, what’s an agenda for anyway?

Everytime China surfaces as a “tech giant,”
you have to wonder where they got it from.

FACTS ON FILE
<><>As of 2022, China was Israel’s 2nd largest trading partner,
<><>total trade value reached a whopping $24.45 billion.
<><>figuring China’s good relationships w/ Arab nations would help Israel,
<><>China sided w/ Hamas’ brutality against Israel.

BACKSTORY-—the Trump administration had restricted sensitive US technological exports to China. As a result, China turned to cooperative Israel. China’s direct investment in Israel’s IT industry, especially in chips and semiconductors, now has increased.

In 2017, Israeli PM Netanyahu said China accounts for one-third of the investment in Israeli high technology, which includes US military technology the US shares w/ Israel, since Israel says it is the US’ strongest ally.

In the ’90s, Israel sold military equipment and technologies to China, including the Harpy missile system. This incident chilled relations between the United States and Israel, with Israel being suspended from its status as a US Security Cooperative Participant in the Joint Strike Fighter program. However, on 6 Nov 2005, Israel stated that it had been re-admitted into the program.

The US had to pressure its strongest ally, Israel, to stop sharing US military technology w/ China.
Yet Israel still doesn’t restrict China from acquiring dual-usage technologies that could have military implications that undermines the safety and security of American families.

A succession of US administrations warned Israel about its growing tie with China, sharing concern about China using Israel as a backdoor to access sensitive technologies from the US.

The most vocal objection to Sino-Israeli ties came from the Trump administration. When former Secy of State Mike Pompeo visited Israel in 2019, he warned Israelis that the CCP “engages in spying through its commercial state-owned enterprises and presents risk through its technology systems. Pompeo said China’s actions posed a risk.

Unfortunately, Israel largely brushed aside the warnings. Like many other countries, China’s massive market has enticed Israel. Plus, the Israeli government hopes China’s good relationships with Arab nations may help Israel.

This year, Netanyahu was working on a Sino-Israeli free trade agreement and planned to visit China. But China’s siding w/ Hamas should wake up Israel’s leaders to the reality that Communist China’s relationship with Israel is a cause for concern.

Never thought of that, but that is a great point, just the volume alone kills that theory

A person on a different topic, how life was created had a brilliant point I had never considered
Say a bolt of lightning hit the primordial ooze and life was created, what did it eat?

Another one again as a teenage was about ozone hole, a story no less in National Geographic about ozone hole had some interesting pictures showing the hole getting larger, then smaller than larger….. over the year

My first thought was if the hole is caused by cfcs, how does it get bigger then smaller throughout the year when cfcs haven’t gone away.

I learned that ozone is 03, which is unstable and is created by sunlight hitting the atmosphere and even I knew that the sunlight at the poles goes to near zero gradually twice a year. Exactly in step with the hole getting smaller and larger.

A friend also later pointed out that volcanos spew sulpher dioxide which is like miss Pac-Man to ozone

As you said agenda, don’t let a “crisis” go to waste

Agreed. As I mentioned Xinhua is the CCP PR dept, followed closely by Euromedia and then the US MSM.

Embellishment to make Dear leader look good is not just limited to North Korea but to Russia and China as well.

Although the Biden press room is certainly gaining ground on them all.
