My allergist is a peanut allergy authority. He’s written many books on the topic. He said that most kids will outgrow their allergy but won’t know it because their mothers won’t let them within hundred yards of a peanut.

I am allergic to penicillin. At least I was. The last and only time I was given penicillin I was 6 years old, puffed up like a balloon and went into anaphylactic shock. In the 60 years since then I have had several doctors tell me that many people who have an allergic reaction to penicillin grow out of it, but I never felt the need to test the theory since other antibiotics worked fine for me.

I suspect that it is also the case with peanut allergies. One bad allergic reaction as a kid and no pressing need to ever try peanuts again.
