The way the snow was clinging to the rail I expected really heavy snow, but was pleasantly surprised that it was pretty easy to get it pushed over the side.
And my plow guy just got here. We’ll see if he’s the one who does an excellent job. Regardless, my access in and out of my garage will be cleared. I imagine they have been going full bore since early morning.
Hey there, radu!
It WAS a good day here. The weather was really nice, with a high of about 77. The only downside was having to get up so early. I’m already sleepy. I know you can relate!
I think I forgot to ask last night how things were at the museum. How were things at the museum? 🤣
It really didn’t look too heavy on the cam. The limbs on the big spruce tree close by didn’t seem too weighted down. Just beautifully flocked.
Good for the plow guy! Git ‘er done while you can. LOL It’ll be nice if he IS the one who does such a great job but any clearing helps.
The plow guys and the de-icing crews were certainly busy at Ted Stevens today.
Oh, I found out why I could smell smoke when I was out this afternoon. On the news a few minutes ago, they did a short piece about a fire in a wooded area that hasn’t been put out yet but is contained. It’s only about 4 miles from the farm.
Darn fools around here just won’t stop being stupid.
Your weather today sounds perfect. We were just a couple of degrees cooler here and it felt nice.
Yep, I can relate alright. LOL I went to bed early last night because I was so whipped. Of course, that meant waking up a little earlier than normal today.
I’ll need to go to bed a little early again tonight. There’s a de dedication tomorrow for a veterans’ memorial outside the building the county VA office is in and I want to go.
It was steadily busy at the museum this weekend. I never got to sit down either day and since I had to WEAR SHOES, my feet still hurt. LOL No way I was wearing flip flops when there was frost on the ground both mornings. brrrr Loks like next weekend will be the same. *sigh*
It was very nice and since it’s going to be high 80s for the next 3 days, it came just in time.
I can’t even think of wearing shoes all day like I used to. I don’t know how I did it! No wonder your feets hurt! I figure I’ll be going to bed earlier tonight, too. I’m already tired. I had a short nap...key word, short.
EEK. A wildfire that close!? I’m so glad they have it contained. I hope they know who did it and give them a nice big ol’ fine!
Whew, I’m glad it won’t be quite that warm here this week. Our highs will be around 80 until the cold front comes through at the end of the week. Highs will be around 60 next weekend with lows in the 30s. Not flip flop weather. LOL
I hope they know who started that fire, too, as well as the others around here lately. There’s a hefty fine and possible jail time waiting for those idiots. A few have been accidental but at the same time, due to stupidity. They’ve shown footage a couple of times of fields with rolls of hay that caught fire. The idiots rolled it up too soon and they can spontaneously combust when you do that.
They’ve upped the chances for rain Thursday and Friday a little bit and they can keep going up! LOL We need it BAD.
Yesterday at Comanche Lake:
I'm going to check with the furnace repair guys and see when they will be down here today. We're going to have a new furnace or heating system for the house one way or the other. I'm determined to make it happen before winter really ramps up.
How's everyone doing this morning?
Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))
Lookit dat happy face on Gizmo. He had a grand time yesterday at the lake.
I hope the furnace repair guys get on the ball and get your heating setup dealt with fast. You and Gizmo don’t need to be stuck in the cold.
Yes, you DO need it bad and I really hope that the chances get better as the time gets closer for the rain clouds to reach your area. Those wildfires are getting too close for comfort. AAAAAnd...I did NOT know that bales of hay could spontaneously combust! That is freeeeakky!
So the left honors her by stripping the name off of Fort AP Hill and replacing it with hers. I guess they don’t know what irony is.
The whole state is in drought right now and we all need rain. The southern half is in extreme drought so we’re desperate for it. Fires are breaking out all over.
Yes, hay can spontaneously combust if it’s rolled or baled when wet. I’ll let OK State explain since they do a better job than I can.
https://news.okstate.edu/articles/agriculture/2020/stotts_braums-fire.html
“High-moisture hay initially heats up as the plant material continues to respire after harvest and microorganisms such as fungi and bacteria break down complex carbohydrates. Hay also serves as insulation, so the larger the bale or stack, the less cooling that occurs to offset the heat. When a bale or stack’s internal temperature rises above 130-175 degrees Fahrenheit, an exothermic chemical reaction can start and cause the temperature to rise still further, even to the point of ignition at 448-527 degrees, causing combustion.
Some heating can occur in any baled hay if forage moisture content is 15% or higher.”
I’ve seen some idiots around here cut one day and roll the next, while the grass is still green. It has to dry out first!
May be, but doesn’t take away from her actions at the time of her service.
Well, sonofagun! Who’d a thunk it! Shows what a city slicker I am. LOL! I guess that NC is in drought, too, with the fires that Reed was reporting on yesterday.
I’m getting sooo sleepy. I think I’ll head to the barn. See ya mañana!
I learned about it when I was younger because there’d been a few barn fires due to moldy hay around the town where I grew up. Dad explained to me how it happens.
This whole area is pretty dry. Not getting any wet systems up from the Gulf this summer hurt.
Sleep well. I need to get the cat stuff done so I can hit the sack too. Catch ya tomorrow.
Good evening, luvie...she surely was multi-talented
Fire starters never stop being stupid....it’s ingrained.
Glad it’s contained.
Good morning, E...((HUGS))...Gizmo sure was busy yesterday at Comanche Lake; lots of adventures.
You guys have a great Monday and hope the furnace guys are on the ball and getting a new system for you SOON.
The left hasn’t a clue what they are doing...they are brainless.
Not sure what that means, people are being taught she is a Medal of Honor hero, but she isn’t.
Your thread is selling her to freepers as something she isn’t.
“Notably, the award was not expressly given for gallantry in action at that time, and in fact was the only military decoration during the Civil War. Walker is the only woman to receive the medal and one of only eight civilians to receive it. Her name was deleted from the Army Medal of Honor Roll in 1917 (along with over 900 other recipients); however, it was restored in 1977.”
No Sunrise this AM..overslept till 6:30. Oh Well.
