When I worked there in the late 80s a bigmac meals was $3.20 (sold too many of those, burned into my brain), which the interwebs says $8.23 now. So McD’s seems to be putting their thumb on the scale.
Cursory review online shows that $3.20 in 1989 is equivalent to $7.88 today.
