If the IDF found such a map, why would they publicize it? Wouldn’t the info be more valuable if Hamas did not know the Israelis had it? Makes me think that this is disinformation the purpose of which is to freak Hamas out.

Exactly! Stupid to publicize it.

One of the most fascinating deceptions in WW II was "Operation Mincemeat" where the Brits went to incredible lengths to get fake invasion plans into the hands of the Germans and make them believe they were real. There was a great 2022 movie of the same name.
