As Ron DeSantis drops in polls, backers zero in on tired-of-Trumpers

With two new polls of key early states showing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis losing ground to former President Donald Trump and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, the main DeSantis-supporting super PAC is focusing on Republican voters who want to move on from the one-time commander-in-chief.

Never Back Down has spent more than $30 million to date on advertising

Despite the massive spending and fundraising haul, DeSantis has not made any headway in the race for the GOP nomination.

“The way we look at this race is that there are three buckets,” a source familiar with Never Back Down’s advertising strategy tells The Post. “There’s the Trump base. Those are voters that are definitely with him and are never leaving him. There’s the middle bucket, which are voters who voted for President Trump..... but they feel like it’s time to move on.

However, the so-called middle bucket “has grown” in the last few months, ... and is “consolidating behind DeSantis,” the source said.

Even then, Republican strategist John Thomas argued, the “math isn’t there” for DeSantis to overcome Trump’s lead, especially since Haley is unlikely to drop out anytime soon.

Lies!

How has that “middle bucket” grown when Trump continues to increase his lead over the other candidates and the other candidates’ poll numbers fall or do NOT grow except a few points off of each other?

At least Ron is a winner, Trump a proven LOSER.

My issue with Ron Desantis is that he has not made a case for why I should vote for him. Just because he is the “Not-Trump” candidate is not a good enough reason to vote for him.

My advise to Ron, get in front of a camera and convince me why you would be a great president.

Ron Desantis is a lousy campaigner. He comes across as light on the loafers. I total milquetoast like Pence.

The USA is falling apart and is on it’s last legs. We need a fire breathing George Paton, not another George (Shrub) Bush. /spit

"If, God forbid, Trump is no longer alive or has been kept off the ballots in states, we will go back to the lesser of two evils choices."

Not me. I'll never vote for the lesser of two evils ever again, because when it's over, you're still stuck with evil. I'd rather sit home, knowing I had no part in electing a crappy candidate. It will be that, or I'll just continue to write Trump's name in, even if he's dead. If I'm still alive Election Day in 2024, I'll vote for Trump a third time. After 40+ years, I changed my registration from Republican to "no party." after Jan. 6th. I'll never be a registered Republican again. That party doesn't respect me enough to deserve my being a registered member any longer.

"Poor desantis... not even considered good enough to be the better swamp GOPe rino uniparty candidate by his own team..."

He could have saved himself a lot of embarrassment, and the loss of a future political career, if he hadn't allowed his ego, and arrogance to get in his way. He should have just sat this one out.

I will not go back to the lesser of two evils ever. That is how we got in this mess. A faux choice is not a choice and enabling the rape of our Country is treason.

There are countless people who vote republican who are much happier with Biden than Trump.

It says a lot about them. They just want their party back the way it was before Trump brought on the storm.

he don’t have the baggage the Rump has, with jail threats in New York and Georgia

I am not interested in letting my enemies pick the pool of qualified candidates by making up bogus charges. That's Venezuela. It shouldn't be the USA.

And I can’t stand people who whine about people calling DeSantis names and then use vulgarities to describe President Trump.
What kind of low life could ignore President Trump’s accomplishments for our Country and his service with no salary in 4 years, and a halving of his net worth besides?
Talk about ignoring the forest to concentrate on a toothpick.

Trump the Rump

So you have no respect for Trump and what he tried to do despite being attacked from all sides?

We need a spanner in the works, and Trump is the closest thing we’ve got to one.

Trump is the whole toolbox.

DeSantis made a lethal error early on when he decided to run as an antiTrumper. He immediately and irrevocably consigned himself to the dumpster of primary politics. What “consultant” thought it was a good idea to attack Trump, give Biden a free pass, and expect party members to vote for him? Could it be this brilliant PAC?

It is not contradictory. It is exactly as I stated. There are a lot of people who have regularly voted republican that hate Trump enough to be happier with Biden.

I never said they were solid conservatives. They are simply people that want to be generally perceived as conservative, but don’t have enough fight in them to openly oppose the democrats.

What I said still stands. And yes, they are RINOs.

So, Mr. 8% (DeSanctimonious) actually has Trump Supporters "consolidating" behind him??

Math must be really hard for these yahoos!
