Unlike its close ally the United States of America, Israel is not suffering from a lack of backbone or clarity at the top.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not gladly suffer fools who offer opinions on the role his country should play in fostering peace in the Middle East, especially when those fools aren't the ones getting shot at, raped, or bombed.
The aforementioned close ally has been flooded with protesters who are demanding a ceasefire and caterwauling about Israelis being at fault for being the victims of all of the shooting, raping, and bombing. Most of the protesters are young people who have been taught fictional history by commie, America-hating academics.
The logic of their position disintegrates under any rational scrutiny. Luckily for most of them, they inhabit college campuses and/or very blue cities, so they're immune to things like logic and rationality.
Netanyahu made some remarks on Monday that reiterated his position, and with an economy of words, simplified things for the frothing "Ceasefire!" hordes he's rebutting.
Netanyahu ruled out a ceasefire with Hamas, amid negotiations at the United Nations over a draft resolution calling for a pause in the conflict to allow civilian aid to be delivered to civilians in Gaza. “Calls for a ceasefire are calls for Israel to surrender to Hamas, to surrender to terrorism, to surrender to barbarism. That will not happen,” he said.

Please tell me you are kidding. Israel is the one civilized nation in the Middle East. Do you not see that?
Well, for one, they are in the Middle East but they're not shouting 'death to America'.
Israel is a democracy, a functioning republic. In a strategic position in the Eastern Mediterranean. Do we not stand for helping struggling free nations? If not, what do we stand for? And the relationship is not one-sided; a lot of technological progress comes from Israel, particularly in the area of signal and video processing. And Iron Dome. and probably many other things we are not even aware of. And last but not least, backing Israel is the right thing to do.

The signal intelligence, assuming that’s what you’re referring to, was OURS, stolen by Jew Jonathan Pollard and sold to Israel. Some friend they are!! So the fact that they are a “democracy” doesn’t make them an ally.
And no, sending them billions of dollars, priceless equipment and our own service men and women to protect their border is NOT ok when ours is wide open to Hamas or anyone else to come through! Even the new house speaker made his first act to be a bill supporting Israel. With all the unbelievable, freaking problems we have here and now we’re fighting their war!! I believe that there’s one or two Christian holy sites in the Middle East, and I’m not quite sure that the Muslims will protect them to the degree that Israel does. But don’t get me wrong, I know that others prefer to find out the hard way.

It’s not an oxymoron. Nearly everyone Israel has killed there were Palestinians who did nothing wrong towards Israel.
