Former President Donald Trump is boasting a 49-point lead over his closest rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, this week’s Morning Consult survey found.

Trump now has support from 62 percent of potential Republican primary voters, which is close to his all-time high of 63 percent in this survey. This puts him 49 points ahead of his closest challenger, DeSantis. The Florida governor comes in a distant second in the lower teens with 13 percent support nationally among potential GOP primary voters. Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley comes in six points behind with seven percent support, followed by Vivek Ramaswamy (six percent). Then comes former Vice President Mike Pence (5 percent), who dropped out of the race on Saturday, stating, “This is not my time, but it is still your time.” Every other candidate listed saw two percent support or less:

According to our latest tracking, the bulk of the GOP’s electorate (62%) would back Trump if the primary or caucus were held in their state today, while 13% would support DeSantis. https://t.co/zpObC29kvJ pic.twitter.com/1UhrdvYaT1

That portion of the survey was taken October 20-22, 2023, among 3,876 Republican primary voters. It has a +/- 2 percent margin of error.

As has been consistent in several other Morning Consult surveys of the past, Trump also remains the most favorable candidate across the board, as 77 percent have a favorable opinion of him. While DeSantis has a positive favorable rating as well, with 60 percent viewing him favorably, his unfavorable rating is higher than Trump’s — 25 percent to the former president’s 22 percent.

Ramaswamy, Pence, Haley, and Sen. Tim Scott also share a positive approval rating, unlike former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, North Dakota

The survey also showed Trump and Biden tied in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup. In comparison, DeSantis trails Biden by five points:

The left know this and they know that Biden is a loser. Which is why they’re doing everything they can to make sure Trump is incarcerated. But they’re going to lose their too.

DeSantis really needs to drop out of the non-race. Throw his support behind President Trump and work to help the President win the election.

We need to get a united front against the onslaught of democrats who are destroying this nation...indeed, it is pretty much destroyed now. We can restore it though, but only with Trump. Don’t fool yourselves.

DeSantis is hoping that Trump is eliminated from contenion. Jail, ruled inelligable by kagaroo courts, other more exterme means, whatever the uniparty can come up with to make sure he will not be on the ballot, and then DeSantis will erase that lead overnight. That's the plan.

I used to really like and respect DeSantis. It's despicable that he's become a part of this. I've lost my liking and my respect for him.

Hmmm…Then why Trump is having to spend more money on negative ads about DeSantis specifically in Iowa?

He was in Sioux City Iowa yesterday where he mistakenly said he was in Sioux Falls. He also said Russia borders on Hungary (um no) and that anyone who thought that he could get Mexico to pay for the wall was an idiot.

I wouldn’t call all people who believed Trump to be idiots, but I would say that Trump brazenly lied his arse off to them about Mexico paying for the wall and now defends himself by, you guessed it, calling his own supporters childish names.

Yeah sure 49% means there is 51% percent for Ron, so he has a chance.

Did you believe him when he said on multiple occasions that Mexico was going to pay for the wall? If so, Trump has a less than stellar opinion about your intelligence.

Yes I did because I knew how that would come about, you and other like minded people expected Mexico to write a check, I knew it would be in the form of economic reclamation that would come about. I am saddened that Trump didn't articulate that well and even sadder that he would have to.

He’s at Cruz levels now in 2016, where even if he does, he will be bitter and unhelpful. Best thing he can do is finish his term in FL and hope people forget this betrayal.

Yes, this is true. I’ve experienced this also, but it’s all in good humor. Looking forward for this primary season to be over.

Gee, this is so easy a cave-man can answer:

Because President Trump, and everyone else with a brain, know that DeSanctimonious has gotten in bed with the Globalists, Deep-Stater, and NeverTrumpers.

They also know that they have publically endorsed them and are supporting him with millions of dollars.

He is blatantly the Trojan Horse for the Globalists, Neo-Cons, and NeverTrumpers.

And also, President Trump, and everyone with a brain, know that DeSanctimonious has no honor and believes that President Trump will be removed by the Law Fare.

So any person with a brain would continue to fight DeSanctimonious until the Primary is done, or DeSanctimonious does the honorable thing and drops out and supports, whole-heartedly, President Trump.

You mean deep staters like Bob Barr, Chris Wray, Lindsey Graham, Kelly, Maddis, and Mitt Romney?

And did you mean globalists like Lindsey Graham, Nikki Haley, Gavin Newsome, Fauci, Moderna, Pfizer, and Birx?

Trump tried that Schlick back in 2016 and it worked on Jeb Bush but it isn’t working on the best governor in America in 2024 lol.

Every accusation Trump hurls only draws attention to his own failures.
