It would be nice if people with serious mental health problems could be more easily separated from their guns.

The problem is that gov would tend to stretch such powers to the point where they would prohibit guns to anyone with political views that differ from their own by defining such political affiliations as mental aberrations.

I don't necessarily disagree given what our country has become. However, there must be a way to better assist the known mentally ill to actually help them get better.

It is quite easy to do so.

You lock them up in a mental health ward.

If you are locked up in a mental health ward you are separated from your guns.
