Airport in Russia’s Muslim southern region closed after hundreds storm tarmac and climb on to planes.
A mob in Russia’s mostly Muslim region of Dagestan has stormed the airport in Makhachkala in search of Jewish passengers arriving from Israel.
In the past day, local people have besieged a hotel in search of Jewish guests and stormed the airport after reports emerged that a flight from Tel Aviv was arriving in the city. While no one appears to have been seriously injured or killed in the riots, passengers have been forced to take refuge in planes or hide in the airport for fear of being attacked.
Video posted to social media showed hundreds of young men, some carrying Palestinian flags or placards denouncing Israel, storming on to the tarmac of the Makhachkala international airport and climbing on to idling planes, attempting to break through the windows.
Airline employees were shown hustling passengers back inside planes as the crowds approached the aircraft. Russia closed Makhachkala airport on Sunday evening due to “intruders” at the airport.
“This is your captain,” one announcement said. “There’s an angry mob outside that doesn’t know where we’ve come from and why [we are here]. It’s possible we’ll also come under attack.”
The riots appear to have been inspired by a number of posts on the social media platform Telegram, where followers were told that a flight from Tel Aviv would be arriving that evening with refugees from Israel.
Some of the signs held by the rioters read, “We are against Jewish refugees”

First they come for the Saturday people then they come for the Sunday people. Someone better stop this before it’s too late.
This is crazy. Russia, like the US, was intimidated by Islamic attacks carried out by people living there, most of them even citizens.
So even after a few vicious attacks on civilians, Russia thought it would be more prudent to try to buy them off.
Sound familiar?
All this did was empower the Muslims, and the same is true with us. We only attacked secular ME dictators (who actually permitted other religions and non-Islamic lifestyles) and honored or didn’t bother Muslim dictators because we were afraid of them.
And that’s where this policy leads us.

If it turns into a religious jihad then Muslims are staked out all over the world unlike the past. A war as I speak of will impact every street corner on Earth.

Ain’t social media great? Like I responded to another FReeper on a different thread - NO, I do not have a smart phone. I also stay away from ANY social media. I’ve seen the damage it can do and my life isn’t exciting enough to tell everyone about it nor is anyone else’s..
But I’d really like to know how so many ANTI ISRAEL posters and Hamas flags showed up so fast in so many different countries around the world. Where are they coming from and who stocks them ready for instantaneous protests?
I remember long before 9/11, Moscow was terrorized by Muslim terrorists burning buildings etc. I thought at the time that Russia would take care of the thugs in no time at all and we wouldn’t have to experience what they were going through. Turned out not to be true...as we found out on 9/11.

I suppose but I don’t think anyone wants to hear about my boring life in the common meaning of social media....I suppose I’m one of the several ELDERS here...we may be opinionated but don’t or try NOT to bore people...unless someone is interested in what it was like to grow up in the ‘40’s - ‘50’s...the best of times in spite of wars! When did people get so self indulgent?
You’re not boring. You probably have a lot of great anecdotes and common sense wisdom to share. All social media is not bad.
