Many, many years ago a therapist friend described violent suicides as acts of revenge. "You've hurt me so much I'm going to kill myself, then you'll be sorry". "And just so you know how much you've hurt me I'm going to kill (you/my whole family/this bunch of total strangers) first".

I know this is a rhetorical question but why don’t people like him just skip the part where they kill a lot of people and just off themselves in the beginning? It would eliminate a lot of negatives.
