Nice victory speech. I was sort of surprised when he referred to the “eloquent” Sheila Jackson Lee while sounding very mellow otherwise.

I believe it had a happy ending, and the replacement was better than the man he replaced.

He’s not just some political bomb thrower. He comes from a local politically active family.
He served in the Florida Legislature before he went to Congress.
His father, Don Gaetz, was a Florida State Senator and President of the same.
Before that he was the County Superintendent of Education.
They didn’t have to go into politics, they were already wealthy before ever running for anything................
The reaction of the DUmmies to Johnson is like that of a vampire to sunlight so that’s a good early indicator in my opinion.
I don’t know that he did have a viable plan. But it worked out.

I know that now, Speaker Mike Johnson is a 3 term Congressman from Louisiana and a lawyer by profession.
In December 2020, Johnson signed an amicus brief in support of Texas v. Pennsylvania, a lawsuit filed at the Supreme Court contesting the results of the 2020 presidential election.
In January 2021, Johnson voted to overturn the election results in Pennsylvania in support of Trump’s lawsuit.

Nah, the typical FReeper only says that for republicans who score in the 50s in their rating, who connive with the democrats to beat down conservatives and prevent any real conservative initiative, who make secret deals with Nancy Pelosi to stay in power and keep conservatives out of the ruling club.
