Over the weekend, as I pondered a volume of forgotten lore — it was Emily Wilson's gripping translation of Homer's "Odyssey," actually — my email inbox started filling up with the curious news that a long-discredited and retracted paper claiming that the COVID vaccines had killed nearly 300,000 Americans had been "reinstated."
It did not take long to determine that the truth was, no, not really. But the sudden appearance of this claim and its rapid spread across the anti-vaccine ecosystem speak volumes about how "bad papers written by antivax ideologues designed to promote a narrative that vaccines are dangerous and/or ineffective ... never die," to quote the veteran pseudoscience debunker David Gorski.

I agree with all of your posts on this thread. There are a lpot of dumb-ass idiots on FR who still pray to Q and believe in the the kracken, as opposed to rational thought.
SADS has been the number one non-accidental killer of young people for generations. Until the advent of the internet and Covid, most people never heard of SADS unless they knew someone who died from it. But just becsuse they never heard of it, doesn’t mean it did not exist.
Yup. They know the truth.
Hahaha, is this some kind of spoof?
My question is, how do you know the 'scientists' listed in your links are real or well
paid useful idiots.
I have just as much rights to distrust anything having to do with fraudulent fauci
and his clingers as you do believing in your "real scientists".

The IRS issued their annual pension mortality tables for 2024 recently. Footnote 11 on page 9 says ... the significantly higher rates of mortality experience during 2020 through 2023 are not determinative of mortality rates for later years. However, the Treasury Department and the IRS expect that mortality in the future will be marginally higher than what was expected ...
Nailed it. I’ve noticed they all call us “anti-vaxxers,” which they know is donkey manure. I think Pfizer or somebody must have a handbook out that tells them to do that.
I grew up as a Navy brat. We were all vaxxed to the hilt.
Then, as an adult, I have visited, worked and lived in some countries that aren’t exactly garden spots. I’m vaxxed up one way and down the other. I even got the anthrax series.
But I did not and will not take any of those FauciPfizerModerna shots. I don’t trust them, I don’t trust the people who have been pushing them and I choose not to be injected with some nouveau government garbage.
They sure showed up in force for this thread to depend the murderous thugs.
👍
I know that the scientists who author the papers in my links are legitimate scientists because of a number of indicators. Their work is published in well-established peer-reviewed journals. Their affiliations show that they work in research institutions or in areas of patient care related to the topic of their research. For background information, they provide extensive references which are also published in reputable journals. Scientists frequently write using a non-emotional passive voice so as to place the focus on the data that they are reporting. They describe how they collect and analyze their data (this is the methods section). They present the results as matter-of-factly as possible. The discussion is the only section of the paper where they insert opinion, in the form of their interpretation of what the data means and its implications. They present facts logically and never insert emotional or inflammatory phrases to try to manipulate opinion. Finally, they present their research report in the form of a coherent story from beginning to end.
This is how scientists write. Scientific papers follow a pretty rigid format and writing style.
The link below shows a paper that has all of the elements of a legitimate scientific publication. The only unusual aspect of this paper is that the authors included their educational degrees, whether they are MDs or PhDs; that information is usually omitted from papers.

Very true. Even if they knew someone who died from it, they probably never heard the term "SADS."
I found out about SADS (but not the name) in an article published in a women's magazine in the early 1970s. The article described a couple of cases where a young person died unexpectedly. It described the problem as a heart condition in which the first symptom is often death. That article left a lasting impression on me--death is the harshest first symptom imaginable.
“ Medical debate gobbledygook, all I know is before the vax people didn’t die suddenly, especially young people. ”
Really? My father in law and sister in law are two such examples. And my husband’s uncle. And that is just in my immediate family.
