Everything Hamas did during the bloody High Holy Days massacres has been done by Muslims throughout history and is still being practiced today. There is nothing new here whatsoever. Medieval barbarism never went away because Islam kept those grisly practices alive. It endures side by side with the modern world of smartphones, electric cars and AI because its worst crimes are an object of religious law and faith.

The biggest problem in the Middle East is not the Israeli/Palestinian question, it is the military capability of Iran. Iran will finally achieve ICBMs that it will look for reasons to use. Russia or China may choose to use Iran to fight a proxy war with the United States at that time. They certainly would be willing to accept the destruction of Iran if Iran could strike a crippling blow against the United States.
Obama, and now Biden, allowed/promoted the development of Iranian missile and atomic technology, while under the control of crazed mullahs.
The problem of Iran will have to be dealt with at some time, in final terms.
Obama had a chance to end the Islamic theocracy but did not offer any help when the Iranian people rose up against it. That was a fatal mistake, and that fool now parades about as an esteemed, wise, elder statesman.

Look, I understand the depravity of the West, and is is dire, but that is internal and Islam is largely external. It’s threat existential.

The saddest thing about Persia is that its’ people taken as individuals are not instinctively religious fanatics. They’re too intelligent. I worked alongside a software engineer in the early aughts who was brilliant, and entirely secular. Ditto my current cardiologist, who is a leading light in the U of Michigan department. It’s a damned shame that Persia was in a weakened condition when the Arabs arrived with their new religion, and overthrew the Zoroastrians. And more recently a damned shame that that idiot Carter failed to support the Shah when he needed it. A secular Iran would have been as powerful an ally as Israel in the middle east.
