Federal prosecutors spied on Congress in search for leaks, now DOJ is being investigated for it
Just the News ^ | 10/23/23 | John Solomon

Several current and former congressional oversight staff have been recently informed that the U.S. Justice Department seized their phone and email records back in 2017 as part of leak investigations, belated revelations that have touched off an inquiry by DOJ's internal watchdog and raised serious concerns about the separation of powers between the executive and legislative branches.

Over the last week, several current and former Senate and House staff from both political parties have alerted Congress that they received belated notifications from Apple, Google or other Big Tech firms that their email or phone records were obtained from their personal devices via a grand jury subpoena.

Officials said the seizures were related, in part, to leak investigations stemming from the FBI's now-discredited Crossfire Hurricane investigation into Russia collusion.

I doubt the DOJ is "investigating". Covering up their crimes is more likely. I'm sure Garland hasn't suddenly become more honest in his prosecutions and investigations. Any internal "watch dog" would be given only information that Garland wanted him to see.

Well at least the DOJ finally found some leaks they take seriously, albeit potentially breaking the law to do it.

Oh wait, the leaks were about their own illegal gun running program to arm the cartels? So the first time we hear they were investigating leaks it was to cover up their own crimes?

Yeah, same 'ol post-Obama crooked DOJ.

Maybe the whole FISA court, FBI jurisdiction, NSA jurisdiction, and DOJ jurisdiction needs to be redefined by new federal laws that limit their power and when those agencies want to get into political grey areas that they have to submit to incredible oversight and if they over-step their authority that there will be sever personal consequences for the agencies entire chain of command from the functionaries to the agency heads. I would like to see an immediate loss of pension along with criminal jail time.

I believe it had to do with Russia Gate. Wray was involved.

I think I love you! :)

The Awan and Becerra scandal has been thrown down the memory hole with the debris of all ensuing scandals thrown on top!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“The Democrat IT scandal or Awan scandal is one of the most baffling and perplexing Democrat scandals of recent years.[1]
Despite an interval of at least 18 months, the Awan scandal was made a closed case by investigators with the destruction of evidence on the day the scandal became public - yet it took a year and a half for the public to learn that basic fact.
While the case was reported by Politico at the start of an investigation in February 2017, it was in fact closed that same day. Not until the DNC chairwoman’s IT specialist plead guilty to crimes committed after the case was closed a year and half later, did the public learn the extent of Democrat party spying, corruption, and foreign money laundering.
The off-site server for the Democratic House Caucus chaired by Xavier Becerra and maintained by the Awans went “missing” the same day the Awan’s were denied access to House computers in February 2017.[2] Chairman Becerra fired Imran Awan six months earlier when suspicions arose, only to replace him with Awan’s wife, who was paid by taxpayers. Records show she never did any work. Awan had been employed by Bacerra for more than 10 years.
Imran Awan spent months at a time in Pakistan as the highest paid staffer in the U.S. Congress, accessing Becerra’s server which was illegally tapped into about 60 other congressional members offices. None of the dozens of Democrats, who also paid the Awan’s, pressed charges.[3] Whether Democrat members knowingly or unknowingly participated in the transfer of their private Congressional office data and records to Pakistan remains a mystery.
In an unprecedented plea agreement with the United States Department of Justice, Imran Awan was exonerated of all “non-violent” federal crimes he may have committed prior to the plea agreement in exchange for a guilty plea to one charge of bank fraud. According to some experts, the deal may not be legal.[4]”
LOL
RIGHT??? I have my own thoughts on the 'scandal' which places me squarely under a 2-foot-thick tin umbrella, but nothing I've seen in the prior years has discredited my opinion of what happened and who was responsible (other than the patsies).
I've been regularly ringing that bell (Awan Bros) ever since it dropped suddenly from the 'news' and d!ckhead becerra got his [payoff] appointment.
