Re: 6 - MacGregor has some good ideas in his book “Breaking the Phalanx”, which advocated the Army moving to reorganize its war fighting to make use of a structure similar to the Marine’s MAGTF. Definitely shook up the status quo.

Unfortunately he has gone full cray cray in the Russia-Ukraine War as he has been consistently wrong on his predictions regarding the end of the War and other key milestones, and spectacularly so. His reputation has taken a well deserved hit for that.

Macgregor's ideas were not universally accepted. Here's a book review by Maj. James Agar in Military Law Review, #160 - (link).

His ideas were nice in theory to the Army (not the Navy or Air Force), short on how to make it work, and long on bitterness showing through After the invasion of Iraq in 2003, is was widely considered that Rumsfeld had too small a force to invade and hold, ideas influenced by Macgregor.
