We’re well into “died of suddenly” season again. Try to avoid if possible.
Of course back then local news was truly local. Anything that happened more than 1 town away at most became some legend the party crowd might talk about. Now all news is national. Every single thing that happens winds up on the internet.

One of my classmates stumbled through a window and cut his wrist to the bone, and survived, another was bit by a coral snake, and survived.
In my school no. But that’s a few hundred kids, it’s a small sample size for 1 in a million occurrences. Of course I was in high school when Len Bias died. There’s lots of ways for seemingly healthy people to die.
At my school we had about 2500 students. There were only a couple of deaths in the 4 years I was there and they were caused by car accidents.

I went to a massive public school (over 5,000 kids) and I never once heard of something like this happening. Although I do remember someone getting hit hard enough in a football game that they died.
