Let me remind everyone that over 57,000 homes were out of power for over 24 hours during the Christmas blizzard of 22 in the city of Buffalo NY alone.
The only thing that kept these families from freezing to death was natural gas.
Let that sink in.
About a dozen years ago in lower new york, we were hit with a hurricane. Knocked out electricity for my suburban neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods for a whole week.
Trees and branches were felled which in turn ripped down electrical wires in a few different places on my block alone. It was fall, late October, so it while it wasn’t freezing winter weather just yet, it was very cold indoors and out. But we had a natural gas stove with which we were still able to cook food and heat up our home until the electricity was brought back on.
